Logistics Technician 2 (Lead).
This position is responsible for overall receiving, storing, shipping, issuing and delivering materials, supplies, merchandise and packages to the production, operation and administrative departments within the facility.
Acts as a work leader for shipping and receiving and warehouse functions within the facility.
This position may also be responsible for selecting, orienting and monitoring the performance of independent contract carriers and maintaining good business relationships with them.
Key Duties / Responsibilities:
Performs work leader duties for shipping, receiving and warehouse functions, to achieve overall objectives of the organization.
Performs shipping scheduling and manages daily work assignments to prioritize load and ensure accuracy of shipments to USPS.
Utilizes Oracle Transportation system to properly generate required shipping and postal documentation.
Performs job functions utilizing company equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Coordinates the daily work routine of receiving and warehouse operations, including procedure compliance, and material handling priorities.
Performs good housekeeping techniques at the job site areas, properly handling paper waste and debris, and removal of all potential safety hazards from the general area.
Provides orientation to the company for all new employees and trains them in their duties to include safety practices.
Monitors the quality of reports prepared by all technicians, including piece weights and weight verification calculations. Investigates any problems or errors detected or suspected in these reports or other receiving documents.
Responds to inquiries from other departments regarding the receipt of information on a priority basis.
Ensures all deliveries are made in accordance with contract terms. Provides accurate information of route delivery, including time and quality of delivery and any independent contract carrier issues.
Education & Knowledge:
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to speak and communicate effectively utilizing the English language preferred.
Associate's degree or equivalent preferred.
Experience / Skills / Abilities:
3 5 years related experience
Advanced computer software experience
Certification in safety for power industrial equipment
Work in lead capacity
Ability to use Oracle Transportation system properly
Knowledge of USPS shipping requirements and company transportation, production & receiving procedures
Attention to detail
Supervises those employees in the area as production lead.
Communication & Contacts (Internal/External):
Communicate with other production team members
Communicate with facility management
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
Be able to life 30 to 50 pounds on a routine basis, bending, stooping, climbing.
