Under leadership of the Sr. Logistics Manager, the North American Logistics Managers have responsibility for the development and execution of strategic initiatives. Scope includes meeting key performance measures, driving conformance to those measures and identifying and implementing process improvements. Specific for the Logistics System Manager, the scope includes accountability for: managing analytical and reporting specialist to provide clean, actionable data; managing freight payment team, processes and external stakeholder; creating and maintain team SME system knowledge in SAP and third party interfaces; quality and ISO requirements; and acting as Strategic Portfolio Leader including champion LSS skills for team. This role requires collaboration with other members of the Logistics team, Businesses, Sourcing, Supply Chain, IT, Finance, Global Trade. Ability to collaborate globally for future state logistics solutions. Strong skills in communicating at multiple levels to influence, analytics, process improvement, and understanding systems, as well as the ability to hold external stakeholders accountable and drive for results are foundational for success in this position. This role encompasses both transactional and strategic responsibilities.
Essential Functions
Collaborate with Sr. Logistics Manager to determine and action strategic initiatives to support strategy
Responsible to lead a team of direct reports to accomplish their objectives
Work within the broader Logistics team to provide system expertize to hit our operational KPIs
Be a value added member of the management team supporting our vision of being a proven resource to the BUs to support their strategies.
Responsible for implementation of all strategic data and reporting requirements of team and internal stakeholders
Become SME of Avient SAP Logistics financial flows including freight payment processes, COPA variable distribution, and Coupa
Develop KPIs and drive improvements around freight payment processes
Work with external partners as needed as escalation point for payment issues
Responsible for all SOC1 requirements, as well as financial audit requirement
Responsible for relationship with USBank , Avient's freight payment partner
Oversee timely resolution of system service failures with external partners. Work to mitigate in future. Create and launch system contingency plans with Operations Manager
Assist leading creation of department system SMEs - including SAP, Coupa, USBank
Manage quality system document control
Collaborate with logistics operations to drive quality improvements
Act as LSS Strategic Portfolio Leader (SPL) ; champion LSS skills in team
Other projects/duties as assigned
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain or related field or equivalent work experience.
Experience working with various Avient's BU and internal stakeholders. Understanding of the organization.
A minimum of one year of leadership experience managing direct reports.
Proven experience in strategic planning and continuous process improvements.
Ability to juggle multiple priorities and drive for results in a changing environment with imperfect data.
Proficient with IT software and systems: Microsoft Office, especially Excel and preferable SAP
