Alene Candles Midwest is seek a Logistics Supervisor on 2nd shift to manage the flow of materials from suppliers and customers required to support production. Accountable to obtain optimum productivity, efficiency, quality, safety, and economy of operations by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate personnel. Will be directly responsible for receiving, warehousing, and inventory accuracy. This role reports to the Logistics Manager.

Job Functions:

  • Coordinates inbound domestic and international logistics operations, such as receiving and warehouse activities, safety performance, and logistics quality management.
  • Managing day-to-day warehouse operations to include receiving, line staging and inventory control. Responsible for the creation of daily pick lists for staging materials needed in production. Manage transfer of material between various Alene warehouses and off site warehouses.
  • Ensures appropriate staffing, training, and evaluation of departmental personnel insuring skill levels to meet the needs of the business in the most efficient manner.
  • Working knowledge of warehouse operations including bar code scanning experience.
  • Maintain Alene standards of performance and comply with housekeeping, policies and procedures.
  • Promote safety as a core value to the organization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management in a variety of formats is a requirement.
  • Role model for conscious leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

  • Schedule is 5:00pm-3:30am


Required Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree
  • 5 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Capable of creating work instructions and operating procedures
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Sound understanding of ERP systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates great leadership/leads by example
  • Fair and consistent application of company policies

We are passionate about making the best products in the world, making safety our number one priority, and being an insanely great place to work.</p><p>We are seeking a Production Supervisor on <strong>2nd shift</strong> with extensive hands-on experience in Manufacturing Operations, excellent people skills combined with solid technical knowledge. You will assist the Manufacturing Manager in the development and management of multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Manage permanent and temporary employees. Focus on safety, quality, productivity, cost reduction, continuous improvement and 5S. First-hand experience with modern manufacturing methodology including Lean Manufacturing.<br></p><p><strong>Job Functions:</strong></p><ul> <li>Insures a safe work environment by communicating safety requirements, auditing, tracking and providing feedback and corrective actions to employees and management. Participate in safety meetings/evaluations.</li> <li>Supervises teams of employees in a process environment in the manufacturing of candles and home fragrance products.</li> <li>Works with planning and purchasing as well as program management to understand upcoming work. Identifies processes needed and staffing as well as resource loading.</li> <li>Will be expected to be a team member of the supervisory and management staff; chairing meetings, offering opinions, supporting initiatives and treating co-workers with respect.</li> <li>Will establish and/or participate in the creation of schedules and insure timely completion of commitments. Will be responsible for early detection of barriers to achieving schedule and providing work arounds and solutions. Will establish priorities; monitor progress; revise production schedules; resolve problems and report results on shift production.</li> <li>Work with engineering to establish efficiency standards and measures performance to targets, tracks, reports, conducts root cause analysis, and corrective actions to maintain and improve efficiencies. Will be challenged with improving efficiencies of line production.</li> <li>Will organize and conduct skills assessments and coordinate training to promote learning and address gaps in capabilities. Cross training will be a key component.</li> <li>Will be accountable for the accurate accounting of materials while in the care of manufacturing and the timely return of those materials to stores if not consumed in the manufacturing process.</li> <li>Will collect data, craft metrics, monitor trends and report to management on the health and well-being of manufacturing.</li> <li>Will work with the pour and pack out coordinators as well as the wax department to ensure smooth start-ups and shut downs.</li> <li>Will be responsible for conducting carry over meetings between shifts to ensure critical and pertinent information is passed between shifts.</li> <li>Will be responsible to communicate equipment issues to maintenance and monitor timely completions of repairs and improvements.</li> <li>Will be accountable for work order closures to ensure timely accounting of and reporting and close out of production work orders.</li> <li>Maintains product quality. Work to identify defects and provide root cause and corrective actions as required.</li> <li>Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and personnel requirements. Goal is to streamline and sustain change.</li> <li>Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of 5S. Conducts 5S audits and communicates issues and corrective actions to teams. Will be the 5S champion in manufacturing. Expectations are to constantly be observing and promote changes and improvements and sustain 5S.</li> <li>Consults with the Manufacturing Manager and Human Resources to resolve personnel and staffing issues. Evaluates, develops, and disciplines employees.</li> <li>Conducts all operations in accordance with state and federal laws, good business ethics, company policies, principles, and procedures under the direction of the Plant and Manufacturing Managers.</li> <li>Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.</li> <li>Manages and develops strong leadership skills in line leaders and key production staff.</li> <li>Other duties as assigned by the Manufacturing Manager.</li> </ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong></p><ul> <li>3-5 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience</li> <li>Bachelor’s Degree in production management or business administration</li> </ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p><ul> <li>Understanding of basic math concepts. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages and ratios.</li> <li>Solid proficiency in use of PC’s/information systems as a management tool.
