The Specialist, Logistics is responsible for planning product transportation, event coordination and inventory management for USO Programs and Operations worldwide.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Duties)

  • Specialist, Logistics will be responsible for the planning and coordinating logistics for USO Exponent and programming events.

  • Manage cross-functional projects and business solutions related to the transportation, presentation, physical distribution, storage, and management of inventory, equipment, and materials of USO Programs & Operations events. *

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and external stakeholders, track and report on inventory, resources, financial transactions, and procurement compliance related to the planning and execution of events.

  • Coordinate, prepare, review and present calendars, event schedules, status updates and reports required for USO Exponent and programming events, and expeditionary programs inventory. *

  • Plan the coordination and execution of multiple, simultaneous exponent events and lead cross-functional teams in the execution of care package events.

  • Report to USO Logistics Manager in development and coordination of logistics plans for inventory and events. *

  • Manage and maintain external partnerships including but not limited to designated U.S. Military and/or civilian partners to support successful procurement of services, as well as transportation and delivery of materials necessary for worldwide programs & operations. *

Job Specifications

  • High School Diploma required. Bachelors Degree, in Logistics or related field preferred.

  • 2+ years progressively responsible work experience in a logistics / supply chain related role. Relevant experience in a charity, not-for-profit, military, multicultural and/or global organization preferred.

  • Knowledge and awareness of logistics, inventory, and supply chain management best practices and compliance requirements in a military/global environment.

  • Ability to operate and maintain a powered industrial truck (forklift) safely and professionally. Familiarity with U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety & Health Administration regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Strong interpersonal, customer service and critical thinking skills. Ability to interact with USO Leadership, public and military audiences at a variety of levels with integrity and professionalism. Ability to manage and influence external vendor relationships.

  • Proficiency using computers and electronics equipment. General knowledge of various software, applications, and programs including but not limited to Microsoft365 and inventory management software.

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment related to controversial and/or culturally sensitive subjects. Ability to handle confidential information with tact and poise.

  • Must show initiative, self-motivation, and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities. Ability to adapt quickly and easily to changing organizational needs.

  • Ability to achieve desired results while working collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Ability to perform basic business/accounting functions including project management and budget reconciliation.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain proper credentials necessary to access USO Center locations and facilities including but not limited to security, credit and/or background screening, SOFA status, valid drivers license.
