Your role will be critical to our success as you develop and implement programs and provide training and coaching to help our logistics team thrive in this changing Supply Chain culture. You will have an opportunity to work with a variety of contributors; they will rely on you to identify key Safety and Regulatory requirements in transportation and distribution. Assist in the development and deployment of programs: (1) to ensure employee safety and process safety and (2) to ensure compliance with company-wide best practices as well as government and other regulatory bodies in line with Ecolab's core values.

You will help ensure a safety engaged culture among employees to influence positive safety and regulatory compliance, providing superior education and training, and collaborating at all levels with the leadership team, front line managers, and front-line associates.

Location Information: The position location is flexible, but would ideally be field-based near one of our main warehouse operations.

What You Will Do:

Safety

  • Develops and deploys robust logistics safety program across the NA chemical and equipment network to ensure compliance with EHS regulations. Communicates and initiates improvements based on trends in audit findings, corrective actions, and best practices.

  • Handles safety related activity and initiatives in a collaborative manner to create a culture of interdependence and to create a high performance workplace.

  • Ensure that SH&E incidents and significant near misses are communicated appropriately and investigated with corrective actions monitored and tracked to closure.

  • Teaches, trains and ensures our first aid and recordable investigations/5 why's are complete, clear and we quickly cascade learnings to all warehouse and manufacturing sites in NA (potentially globally).

  • Supports global EHS initiatives (5S, Safety Observations, Audits, Safe Start, etc.) and objectives.

  • Develops and maintains SOPs/programs for facility compliance with the major regulatory programs and safety contingency plans.

  • In collaboration with Global SHE, develops and deploys process safety program across the NA chemical logistics network, including chemical compatibility in storage and transportation, incident reporting and process audits.

  • Develops, tracks, and communicates EHS metrics such as safety indices, results of government regulatory inspections, and compliance cost indices.

Regulatory

  • Ensures full and consistent transportation regulatory compliance across the NA chemical logistics network. Tracks and monitors training of all hazardous materials certified associates across the logistics network.

  • Develops, tracks, and communicates regulatory metrics such as DOT 5800s.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 12+ years of experience in a manufacturing, logistics or related environment

  • 3+ years' experience in a Safety / Regulatory role in a logistics or manufacturing environment, including internal and external audits.

  • Ability to travel up to 50%

  • Immigration sponsorship not available for this role

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in safety or other technical discipline (e.g. Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology) or Operations Management / Supply Chain Management

  • Previous experience with personal safety and behavior-based safety programs

  • Experience with hazardous materials and process safety management

  • Familiarity with 49 CFR, Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, Code of Federal Regulations, ocean regulation (IMDG) and/or air regulation (IATA)

  • Experience in a World Class logistics and / or manufacturing environment. Prefer they have warehouse safety experience but will consider manufacturing

  • 1+ years' experience in cross-functional project or program management

  • Certification as a Safety Professional

Additionally, the System Senior Patient Safety Specialist leads strategic preventative and performance improvement projects associated to patient safety to improve care processes, advance the organization's culture of safety, and capture and spread patient safety best practices. Responsibilities/Job Description Lead projects and provide Subject Matter Expertise in System-Wide Safety Initiatives in collaboration with System Patient Safety Director and Quality and Patient Safety Leaders across Fairview regions and system. Position requires experience in health systems with Incident Reporting, Root Cause Analysis, developing standard Safety Communications, audits and tools for Key Learnings and Safety Huddles, ability to design training on culture, National Patient Safety Goals, and other relevant safety topics. Working with inter-disciplinary teams and multi-cultural teams is key. This individual will use industry tools and resources to identify and initiate evaluation and redesign of systems to prevent future errors; collaborate with facility leaders to implement corrective actions; apply principles of reliable design to ensure delivery of evidence-based care and reduction in preventable harm; develop process/performance improvement plans; and support implementation teams to bring projects to completion. It is also expected that this individual has a strong working knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting the development of safety and quality implementation strategies (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission, MN Department of Health, HIPAA, etc.).Provide guidance in developing patient safety reports and monitor trends across the system utilizing data from the incident reporting system, safety huddles, and Root Cause Analysis and present findings at various committees as requested. Design audits and tools as needed to verify measures of success and/or audit the auditor for patient safety. Collaborate with patient safety staff, and Subject Matter Experts to develop and spread learnings via Safety Alerts, Advisories, Notifications, and Key Learnings based on best practices and evidence based medicine. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for Root Cause Analysis, Safety Culture, National Patient Safety Goals, Annual Mandatory and Required Education and other best practices and evidence based programs as needed.
