Logistics Planner

Job Description:

As our Logistics Planner, you are Responsible for internal and external customer support for truck transportation load scheduling and services function; responsible for maintenance of the company's truck freight economics activities, including motor freight economics analysis and appropriate use and application of the truck freight rate database.

Specific focuses are:

  • Develops and executes a daily/weekly plan for truck shipments.

  • Performs data entry as required for shipment and billing of truck shipments.

  • Coordinates with the Logistics Services Coordinator to ensure that the database of all current and historical truck freight rates by geographical region, by carrier and by equipment type is developed and maintained.

  • Prepares and transmits or receives and processes shipment notifications all truck shipments.

  • Maintains daily records and prepares documentation for all truck shipments.

  • Prepares and issues or receives and processes bills of lading for truck shipments, and ensures that all required documentation is provided and that appropriate records retained.

  • When agreed to in advance with customers, issues and executes diversion instructions for applicable truck shipments.

  • Maintains documentation on all motor carriers, including valid insurance certifications and capabilities assessment.

  • Prepares to address carrier and customer issues in a timely manner.

  • Communicates effectively and in a timely manner via phone, email, and any other means that is applicable.

  • Communicates with the Sales and Terminals teams to ensure that selling and shipping plans are synchronized.

  • Communicates with the Accounting Team to resolve any invoice-related truck transportation issues.

  • Must be familiar with DOT hours of service rules and be knowledgeable on all HAZMAT regulations and also familiar with customs and border crossing procedures into Canada.

Required Education and/or Experience/Knowledge

Education and/or Experience

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree plus 3+ years experience and/or training in logistics or transportation; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Interpersonal, organizational, mathematical, computer abilities
