About This Role:

ContainerPort Group, a World Group company, is currently looking for a dedicated, driven person to join our family as an Operations Manager for our growing terminals in Savannah and Long Beach, California!

The Operations Manager is responsible for and managing the execution of over the road and intermodal movements by leading a team of Drayage Analysts. Does this sound like you or fit your experience? Get in touch with us by applying here.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Focus on organizational development by managing team performance, providing employee feedback, establishing development plans and detailed performance goals.

  • Recruit, Interview, and train new employees to meet the requirements of current and projected business.

  • Manage day to day operations, provide industry expertise, monitor KPIs and maintain best practices.

  • Assist in developing quarterly/annual budgets and operating plans and ensure expected margin/profitability while driving both revenue and margin growth across all customer verticals and modes.

  • Book and dispatch orders with carriers, assisting to prepare carriers for daily load execution.

  • Track status of loads, manage container milestones, and minimize accessorial charges.

  • Ensure customer freight is picked up and delivered on time, collaborating with shippers, carriers, and dispatchers to manage scheduled pickups and drop-offs.

  • Maintain accuracy of all TMS data including keeping accurate records of relevant freight movement activities, entering updates and key events, and maintaining carrier profiles

  • Provide customers with visibility through innovative analysis and reporting.

  • Leverage operational data to identify optimization opportunities for customers through decreased transit times and/or reduced cost.

  • Manage billing and invoice exceptions as needed.

  • Manage operational variances, complexities, and constraints between carrier and shipping locations.

  • Understand, capture, and communicate business issues, challenges, and requirements.

  • Clearly understand goals, policies, and procedures of each customer

  • Participate in new customer implementations and solution identification discussions.

  • Evaluate solutions and perform analysis of identified options.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics Management, Business Administration, or relevant experience.

  • 5+ years of directly applicable job experience

  • Demonstrated experience in operations management, rate negotiation, logistics coordination, analysis, and problem solving.

  • Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
