A Logistic manager job is available with a manufacturing client in Springfield, Ohio. The individual manages the receiving, shipping, and material handling responsibilities in multiple warehouse locations by designing and developing product movement and storage systems, improving operations, and supporting the frontline staff. Responsibilities include cost efficiency, continuous improvement on processes, service, and safety for multiple locations and all shifts. This individual is responsible for managing a 24x7 operation and developing a team of supervisors and team leads. Managing these functions will require a high level of knowledge of shipping policies and procedures, ERP system capability and Logistics and Foreign Trade requirements to ship goods to and from foreign countries.


  • Execute and model the Client"s Manufacturing System using Lean Manufacturing, 5S, 6 Sigma and other manufacturing strategies to achieve high levels of performance. Own the continuous improvement process for area of responsibility and ensure all employees are engaged in daily improvement activities.

  • Develop and implement systems, policies and procedures that meet or exceed environmental and safety regulations, and that comply with all Import/Export regulations.

  • Develops, implements and manages team to KPI"s for the Receiving, Warehousing and Shipping functions.

  • Develops physical layout and storage systems to maximize space utilization, employee productivity, and safety performance. Develops processes for receiving and shipping product, inventory management, and transactional efficiency and accuracy.

  • Develops warehouse operations systems for two manufacturing sites and 3rd party warehouse vendors by determining product handling and storage requirements. Manages relationship with 3rd party partners.

  • Develops and implements warehouse operations system improvements by leading continuous improvement projects as assigned and by analyzing process work flow, staffing and space requirements, and equipment layout.

  • Creates and manages to an annual operating plan that aligns with overall corporate objectives and goals. Meets financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.

  • Develop strategic plans to improve global logistics and internal warehouse operations, and develop and execute tactical goals to achieve the plans. Reviews and prepares any action plans while ensuring productivity, quality and customer service standards are met.

  • Builds team capability through effective employee relations, hiring, training, and communication for all personnel. Motivates team members to achieve plan goals.

  • Develops team to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals. Communicates and collaborates cross-functionally to assist team to solve operational issues. This role requires regular presence on the plant floor and may require off-shift and weekend work.

  • This role requires travel between two plants and 3rd party warehouse vendors in Eaton, Springfield and Dayton OH, (less than 50%). May require some travel (less than 5%).


  • Bachelor's degree required. Degree in logistics, operations management, or engineering is preferred.

  • Lean Six Sigma Experience strongly preferred, demonstrated by successful completion of a major improvement project.

  • A minimum of 5 years of operations/logistics or supply chain experience is required.

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience managing logistics/warehousing operations, including transportation scheduling, within a manufacturing/distribution environment is required. Experience managing logistics/warehousing operations across multiple manufacturing plants is preferred.

  • In depth knowledge of domestic and international Logistics and Foreign Trade regulations and business processes.

  • Strong knowledge of ERP and inventory management systems. Including responsible for inventory accuracy.

  • Experience with continuous improvement (i.e. Lean Six Sigma certification, TPM, lean manufacturing, etc.).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite applications.

  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback, to lead a team-based approach to decision making and demonstrated ability to work in a results-oriented, challenging environment.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to get results through mentoring others and effective coaching, facilitation, presentation, and team building skills.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

This position ensures preparation of accurate and timely transportation analysis by using available data sources. The analysis drives Bass Pro Shops current and future transportation strategies. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Design and conduct analysis studies for transportation departments to base decisions. These measure business impacts to transportation such as financial costs, service levels, and benefits in business decisions. Develop data queries, prepare bugets, analyze inventory and operations, monitor inbound and/or outbound volumes along with costs. * Design and drive reporting of transportation metrics on inbound, outbound, intra-company transportation. This will support functional operating plans (FOP) and push improvements both operationally and financially. * Develop and organize transportation budgets annually for all transportation departments. Use the annually created budgets to monitor financial goals set by the department which role out to the entire business. Develop departmental reporting sheets to accurately reflect impacts, work with departments to develop final results * Initiate and continue to evolve strategic initiatives to improve areas of transportation costs, service, and accuracy in reporting metrics. Each project produces a measured value to the department and/or business. The Logistics Analyst is to analyze opportunities, take part in solution making, and incorporate the project into current processes. Model solutions, create baseline current state and develop future state with benefits * Work to train users on procedures, present key report metrics to business users, and demonstrate improvement opportunities.
