The Logistics Import / Export Compliance & Systems Specialist will ensure that the Logistics team has all necessary tools and processes established to meet the necessary trade laws governing cross-border shipments while ensuring that all mandatory requisites are in place and up to date (HTS classifications, NAFTA certificates, POA's, record retention, etc.).
The Logistics Import / Export Compliance & Systems Specialist also serves as the primary TMS/SAP Power User so that all required data elements are incorporated into the Logistics operating systems so that shipment optimization, freight rating/payment, and supporting transportation metrics are accurately calculated, executed, and reported on a timely basis. Responsible for educating and training peers or others in logistics compliance.
Position to support the execution of 250,000 annual domestic logistics transactions, equating to a $190MM spend in outbound logistics.
Assurance of trade compliance on 10,000 plus cross border transactions, equating to declared value of $100M annually
Logistics Import / Export Compliance & Systems Specialist Accountabilities:
Responsible for the implementation of leading practices regarding import/exports and warehouse processes to support the North America Region
Correspond as needed with O-I Legal in the ongoing implementation and maintenance of the North America import/export compliance program, and provide training and support to internal customers that touch the cross-border trade process.
Provide guidance and support to the Warehouse ITF Specialists and the shipping facilities in the coordination of all imports & exports, which includes recording and tracking the production and shipment transactions in SAP under applicable process functions.
Administer import/export brokerage agreements, including Power of Attorney authorizations, and monitor broker and forwarder performance.
Serve as liaison for third party customs brokers, international freight forwarders, and lead the response to any customs inquiries or audits as situations arise.
Assist Pricing and provides information for the development of regional TPCs (Transfer Price Calculations)
Work with Procurement and Logistics Managers to certify and implement new carriers and lane capacity commitments into the TMS as opportunities, service issues, and business/lane dynamics dictate.
Support Logistics by providing analysis and reporting of logistics KPI's and metrics, lead ongoing system training to ensure optimization of systems and implement enhancements to the TMS system when new releases are issued.
Maintains ongoing system requirements such as updating shipping locations, route guide revisions, rate changes, carrier scorecards, and fuel surcharge programs within TMS/SAP to help maintain and optimize logistics operations.
Responsible for the development and implementation of a training plan for the team associated with TMS/SAP usage.
Serve as the regional "Super-User" for both SAP and BlueJay (TMS).
Support logistics strategies, process control, budget and reconciliation activities and special projects that will ensure positive EBIT contributions (cost reduction/control) while meeting unique service needs of the customers.
