Team Member Expectations

Logistics Coordinator

Reports to Vice President of Support Services (VP SS)

Team member is primarily responsible for all heavy transportation needs of the company to include but not limited to the coordination, scheduling and dispatching of dump trucks, water trucks, lo-boys, flat-beds and other for the transportation of materials, supplies and equipment of the company. Team member works closely with the Truck Shop Foreman to ensure the safe operation of all heavy truck assets of the company. Team Member leads and manages a team of 12-14 people and assists as needed in all areas of Support Services.

Core Duties:

  • Lead by example

  • Lead the safety effort by being the #1 trucking safety advocate

  • Manage a team of 12 to 14 people

  • Be responsible for the resolution of personnel issues within the trucking area of SS

  • Motivate to maximize utilization of team members in the trucking area of SS

  • Prepare weekly truck schedule and update as needed

  • Work closely with the Truck Shop Foreman to keep on-highway units in safe working order

  • Coordinate, schedule, and dispatch daily and weekly:

  • Dump trucks (utilizing for hires as needed)

  • Equipment moves between shop and jobsites

  • Material deliveries transported by company heavy trucks to include but not limited to:

  • Dirt, stone, brush, concrete, equipment and other for all divisions of the company

  • Maintain a list with the location of heavy equipment as it is transported between shop and jobsites

  • Review, code and approve invoices accordingly

  • Receive and distribute stone tickets with DAA for calculating and invoicing

  • Assess and obtain proper NCDOT permits as needed for hauls

  • Secure annual permits for tractor trailers

  • Coordinate truck escorts from team members as a priority and outside vendors as needed

  • Procure outside hauling opportunities to maximize utilization of company heavy truck assets

  • Assist and monitor vendors with invoicing for materials hauled to dumps as needed

  • Manage company assets' appearance-heavy trucks and trailers-clean, neat, and orderly

  • Make certain driver's CDLs and health cards are current and up to date

  • Approve invoices for trucking

  • Monitor time entry of drivers and approve drivers' time daily and weekly

  • Properly code drivers' time to appropriate job/cost codes daily and weekly

  • Maintain truck tire inventory for all heavy trucks and trailers

  • Build and maintain good relationships with quarries to ensure best pricing

  • Build and maintain good relationships with For-hires for moving material and equipment as needed

  • Build and maintain good relationships with truck/tire vendors for best pricing and quality service

  • Communicate time away from work with your team leader with sufficient notice

  • Willingness to work hours as required

  • Member of the SS Leadership Team

  • Be a team member and assist as needed in all areas of SS

Education/Training/Certification:

  • 2 Year Associate Degree in Industrial Management

  • OSHA Supervisor Training

  • Defensive Driving for the Professional Truck Driver

  • First Aid/CPR

  • Commercial Driver's License preferred
