Highwood USA (Located in Tamaqua and Hazleton, PA) is a part of Premier Outdoor Living, an entrepreneurial manufacturer that produces products for the outdoor living space. POL consists of 3 unique business, Spa cabinets, HDPE Lumber, and Outdoor Furniture.We operate 3 facilities, 2 in Pennsylvania and 1 in Wisconsin that support the three business.

This position will be based in Hazleton, PA.

Position Summary:

The Logistics and Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for driving measurable improvements into day-to-day operations and providing leadership to a small hourly team in our 30,000 sq. foot warehouse. The main responsibility includes ensuring that team members have the necessary skills, resources, and tools to achieve desired goals in the areas of safety, productivity, on-time delivery, warehouse storage efficiency and inventory accuracy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Be a leader in safety.Know and implement all safety rules and contribute to the overall safety program through improvements, expectation setting, and role-modeling proper safe behaviors.

• Position requires frequent communication with all internal functions, management, carriers, vendors, suppliers, and other parties including communication and collaboration with other departments as well as external partners on issues.

• Willing to role model a High-Performance work team through exhibiting those behaviors while developing a team of five by setting expectations regarding performance, behaviors, and results as well as hold the team accountable.

• Establish and regularly report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and track warehouse performance.

• Manage the receiving process, managing inventory control levels of the finished goods along with managing the obsolete items.

• Analyze operational costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising efficiency.

• Negotiate with logistics partners to secure cost-effective solutions and investigate freight discrepancies.

• Provide training and support to ensure the successful implementation of process improvements while coaching the team on standard work as well as 5S principles.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in business logistics or transportation; or a combination of 8 (eight) years of college and/or relevant equivalent work experience is required

• Minimum of 2 (two) years of supervisory experience required

• Demonstrated ability to use automation to improve safety and productivity

• Experience with warehouse and/or software applications, routing and dispatch software systems required

• Experience with ground transportation operations including DOT, OSHA and all related safety regulations

• Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) programs

• Basic understanding of Lean principles

• Dynamic leadership skills, analytical experience, sound judgment and decision-making capability

• Flexibility in working different shift schedules to include occasional weekends

• Office Suite proficient and keyboarding skills

• Excellent verbal / written communication skills and interpersonal skills

Language Skills:

Able to communicate and comprehend in the English Language to perform the duties of this position.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud and PPE is required. Appropriate hearing protection while in the plant is required as noise levels within the facility meet OSHA requirements for hearing protection equipment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Logistics Team Managers typically work between an office environment and the warehouse floor but the purpose of the project may sometimes take them to non-standard workplaces. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
