JOB DESCRIPTION:

INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT - BAHS 1133AR

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to work with children.

• Ability to work collaboratively with others.

• Associate degree.

• Experience with children in a group setting.

• Preferred experience working with children struggling with academics, behaviors and/or mental health/substance abuse.

• Must be able to lift, push or pull 40 pounds and be able to bend at the waist, kneel and reach above your head.

• Proficient in use of word processing and spreadsheet programs.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Special Education Classroom Teacher/Director of Exceptional Children Services

JOB GOAL: To implement the educational programs developed by the Special Education teacher.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide assistance to the special education and/or regular education teacher with all BAHS students in any of the BAHS programs.

• Assists the teacher in carrying out specially designed instructional programs for individual students and collection of special education data.

• Complies with all Federal and State IDEA guidelines and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation act.

• Assists in classroom assessments, IEP data collection, grading, creating materials, individual and group instruction, and filing activities.

• Attend all required professional development in-service and other meetings directly assigned to this position.

• Maintains classroom management and academics in the absence of the teacher.

• Assists students with technology used in the classroom and across school settings.

• Other duties assigned by school administrators and/or supervising teacher(s).

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Compensation will be determined based on 185 contract days on the board approved Rank IV Classified salary schedule. This position requires a 7.5-hour workday.
