Locksmith

Description

Under direction, performs skilled locksmith work, including maintenance, repair, installation, alteration and construction of District buildings locks, exit hardware systems, and equipment; creates new and duplicate keys; replaces, rekeys, and recombinates common locks and safes to ensure security; installs, repairs, and maintains automatic doors, door closers, panic bars, emergency opening and alarm equipment, and other exit hardware; performs preventive maintenance; responds to work orders and locksmith emergencies; provides recommendations on the design and installation of lock and exit hardware systems for new construction and existing facilities; maintains inventory of locksmith supplies, equipment, and tools, and performs other duties as assigned.

Supervision

Works under the direct supervision of a department manager.

Does not directly or indirectly supervise other employees but may provide work direction to lower-level employees and temporary employees.

Work Schedule

40 Hours/Week, 12 Months/Year
