Job Description:

The Locksmith will be responsible for installing, repairing, modifying and opening a variety of locking mechanisms, doors and door hardware.

The primary purpose of this position is: To repair, test, install, and perform minor modifications to locking devices, including combination locks. The work includes the manufacture and duplication of keys and the keying and combination of locking mechanisms.

Performs full repair cycle of locating trouble, disassembling, repairing, cleaning, reassembling, and reinstalling a wide variety of makes and models of locking devices, as well as locking bolts.

Performs minor modifications to key and combination locks, latches, safes and vaults when the security of existing locks have been compromised.

Makes new keys from duplicates, impressions, and key codes from a variety of key blanks.

Uses and maintains tools. Maintains bench stock levels of parts, materials, tools, and equipment at prescribed levels.

Plans and lays out work from blueprints, sketches, specifications, and work orders.

Utilizes safety and security practices and procedures following established rules and regulations and maintains a safe, clean, and secure work environment.

The work unit in which this position exists develops and coordinates the internal and external communication of the agency as part of the CPW mission to protect Colorado's natural resources and provide people with the opportunity to use and enjoy those resources. The section develops and delivers written, verbal and online materials to educate and inform Colorado residents and visitors to the state about natural resources and outdoor recreation. The Public Information and Website Section is responsible for media relations, public relations, customer call-centers, front desk services and maintenance of a website presence critical to the delivery of agency services and sales of agency products. It is a primary public face of the agency and advises agency leadership on communication matters. Description of Job OPEN TO STATE OF COLORADO RESIDENTS ONLY The position will be the primary point of contact for field web authors to help explain web processes and train staff on best practices in web authoring and content creation. This position serves as a member of the CPW web team, aids the Public Information and Website Section in problem solving, and is responsive to agency needs. This position will aid the two existing web positions in website analytics, homepage content design and website project planning. Under the direction of the Section Manager, this person will assist the web team in the implementation of a website operational plan. This position will work closely with the two existing web positions to train field staff in CPW website maintenance standards and provide regular outreach to maintain updated program information on the CPW website. As a technical expert in web content management and design, this person will play a critical role in helping CPW achieve large-scale outreach and awareness goals laid out by the agency Strategic Plan. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: Website Page Content Redesigns 50% Under the guidance of the Public Information and Website Section Manager and the website objectives, this position will assist in managing new web page project and content requests, which expand upon and enhance program information and accessibility to the public. This person will work as part of the redesign team to ensure CPW's strategic priorities are met by working with agency staff to gather, rank and disseminate information based on target audience and agency priorities. This person will be responsible for tracking projects, managing OIT requests, content needed and reporting out to the Section Manager and web team on project progress. Manage and Maintain Web Author Database and Staff Training Program 25% This position will be responsible for designing and maintaining regular trainings to ensure accountability and accuracy of the CPW website. This position will also be responsible for the creation of a web-authoring database to track current authors. The position will work closely with agency supervisors to ensure each program has a Subject Matter Expert designated to review and provide updates to web content. Review and Update Content for Readability and Audience Based on Program and Section Needs 15% Interpret complex scientific concepts into web-based material that is understandable by a general audience. Review, refine, revise amd update current web material on a regular and timely basis Develop New Content 5% Research and write recreation-related, park-related or wildlife-related content for Web publication. Independently writes and edits materials for the web using proper grammar, punctuation, spelling, style and tone in accordance with accepted professional standards and agency publication, design and style guidance. Substitutions A combination of professional work experience in the occupational field or specialized subject area of the work assigned to the job which provided the same kind, amount and level of knowledge acquired in the required education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the bachelor's degree. A master's or doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study directly related to the work assignment may be substituted for the bachelor's degree and one or two years of general experience respectively.
