Distribution

SouthernCalifornia Edison's (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit(T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating,and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion inassets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents viaSCE's 5 million customer accounts.

Thisposition will be in the Local Planning division within Southern CaliforniaEdison's (SCE) Transmission & Organizational Unit (TDOU).

Position Overview

TheLocal Planner 1 will support the regulatory requirements of SCE's electricaldistribution system by developing and designing plans, identifying necessaryresources and providing cost estimates and options for the construction ofdistribution facilities. This position interacts with a diverse customer baseon meeting electrical design needs and is responsible for providing successfuloutcomes for the customer and SCE on assigned or requested projects.

Responsibilities mayinclude:

  • Coordinateactivities with other internal personnel and/or organizations to ensurecompliance and appropriate follow-through of policies, procedures, rules,rates, and completion dates applicable to his/her assigned projects.

  • Managework orders through the entire process and taking accountability for customersatisfaction

  • Maintaina current understanding of industry practices, standards and customer needs.

  • Acquirepermits and easements, identifying environmental requirements and coordinatingrequired project components with other departments, customers, governmentalbodies, and various external sources.

  • Managenumerous less complex design projects from inception to constructioncompletion.

  • Performmeter spots and related design work.

  • Supportsystem emergencies as they arise.

  • Maintaina safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols andsafe work practices.

  • Performother responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a successful graduate from

Service Planner Development Program (SPDP) ORpossesses one or more years of experience in Electrical Utility DistributionDesign, Transmission Design, Distribution Line construction, or Electrical Engineeringdiscipline.

  • Mustpossess a valid U.S. driver's license.

Desired Qualifications

  • A combination of formal education,training, and experience to gain knowledge, skills, and abilities generallyequivalent to those possessed by a high school graduate.

  • Experiencewith resource books such as DDS, UGS, ESR, Overhead and UndergroundConstruction Manuals preferred.

  • Demonstratedexperience developing and designing electrical distribution plans, identifyingnecessary resources and providing cost estimates.

  • Demonstratedexperience managing work orders/projects and maintaining a currentunderstanding of industry practices, and standards.

  • Demonstratedexperience acquiring permits and easements, identifying environmentalrequirements

  • Demonstrated experience working with customers,identifying needs and resolving customer issues.

  • Demonstrated experience, training, or educationapplying technical information related to engineering, drafting, architecture,construction, mapping, design, mechanics, mathematics, science or computers.

  • Demonstrated experience managing several projectsconcurrently, adjusting to shifting priorities, and meeting deadlines.

  • Demonstratedexperience working with computer aided design software (i.e. Auto CAD)

  • Must possess strong oral and written communicationskills to interact effectively with clients/ customers.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others.

  • Demonstrated ability to gather and analyzeinformation, and make sound decisions independently and in consideration ofapplicable policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and beaccountable for the accuracy of information and for achieving results.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and

Outlook.

  • Ableto drive, traverse on uneven surfaces, occasionally lift up to 40 lbs,sit/stand for extended periods of time, work in various weather conditions, andpossibly be in remote regions (coast, desert, and mountain) for extendedperiods of time.
