The Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development, Division of Investments, is recruiting for the position of Loan/Collection Officer 1.

What you will be doing:

The Loan Officer 1 position will join the Investments team in our Juneau Office and work in our Documents Section. This position will serve as the Supervisor managing the documents staff and all loan closing activities.

This section is responsible for preparing all loan closing documents and processing all loan closings for the Divisions commercial fishing loans, small business loans, and other various commercial loans. Duties include performing professional journey level lending and/or collection activities for less complex and well-established programs, closing complex loan transactions, monitoring required insurance, training documents staff and preparing reports to management on a routine basis.

These programs were primarily designed to promote economic development through direct state lending in industries and areas of the state that are not adequately serviced by the private sector.

Special Note about this position:

  • Utilize complex proprietary software for all loan programs administered.  Utilization includes entering data and customer correspondence, reviewing and analyzing existing borrower information, managing timelines and workloads of staff and ensuring all entries are accurate.

  • Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

  • Reading: Understands and interprets written material, including technical material, rules, regulations, instructions, reports, charts, graphs, or tables; applies what is learned from written material to specific situations.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or experience in lending, collections, banking, real estate (law, sales, management, appraising, assessing), title insurance or a closely related industry.

"Typically gained by" means the prevalent, usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job.

Some positions may require experience specific to lending or collection of defaulted loans and/or in a specific program area such as agricultural loans, fisheries loans, or real estate investments.

Some positions may require travel to rural areas in small conveyances.
