Job Summary

Primary responsibilities include the solicitation and origination of mortgage, real estate related and other HomeTrust Bank loan products. The incumbent counsels borrowers to ensure they acquire a loan product appropriate to their circumstances, assesses the best options for the customer's needs, and makes appropriate recommendations. This position analyzes the prospective borrower's income and debt, counsels borrower on credit record or other problems, and pre-qualifies the borrower.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions

  • Originates mortgage loans.

  • Interviews customers and completes detailed loan application.

  • Prequalifies borrowers using standard underwriting procedures.

  • Counsels customers on home buying and financing process.

  • Develops and maintains personal loan pipeline.

  • Works with Loan Processor to facilitate underwriting and processing phases of loans.

  • Answers telephone and written inquiries concerning active loans and bank loan offerings.

  • Cross-sells financial institution products and services as appropriate.

  • Provides disclosures to borrower including Truth in Lending and Good Faith Estimates.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Required:

  • 3+ years of experience required as a retail loan originator, processor, sales assistant or equivalent experience with a proven sales record.

  • Good basic computer skills.

  • Must be bondable, and valid driver's license.

  • Ability to understand and use bank loan policies and procedures to support positive customer interactions.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, staff, and the general public in a positive, problem solving manner.

  • Ability to listen to and convey accurately and quickly, detailed information, important instructions and/or ideas.

  • Ability to think and act independently within guidelines and limitations of bank policy and assigned personal authority.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.

Preferred:

  • College degree in related field.

This position monitors and efficiently funds residential construction loans on single-family properties. The incumbent works with residential borrowers, inspectors, and contractors throughout the construction term of loans to provide information by responding to departmental customer correspondence and phone inquiries.</p><p>Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions</p><ul><li><p>Oversees the completion of the daily tasks and events in the construction lending area and notifies the Loan Servicing Manager of any concerns/issues for further direction.</p></li><li><p>Responsible for the training and accurate implementation of policies, procedures, governmental regulations and systems involving daily operations and customer service.</p></li><li><p>Assists in identifying training and performance needs of individual members of the Loan Servicing team.</p></li><li><p>Takes a leadership role while completing high-level duties and assignments, and provides guidance and error resolution/support to the staff and customers with complex and difficult tasks.</p></li><li><p>Responsible for the monitoring of all key construction lending functions, including reviewing loan files, ordering inspections, processing draws, tracking insurance, preparing modifications and customer service.</p></li><li><p>Makes recommendations to improve processes, increase efficiencies and reduce overhead.</p></li><li><p>Ensures service level agreements are met.</p></li><li><p>Contributes to and assists the Consumer Loan Operations Manager with individual team member performance evaluations.</p></li><li><p>Acts as the point of contact for department heads in the absence of the Consumer Loan Operations Manager, and assists manager with internal and external audits.</p></li><li><p>Acts as a backup for the Residential Construction Loan Specialists.</p></li><li><p>Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information.</p></li></ul><p>Job Requirements</p><p>Education:</p><ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent required</li></ul><p>Required:</p><ul><li><p>5+ years of experience in a mortgage or construction lending capacity.</p></li><li><p>Previous leadership experience.</p></li><li><p>Proficient computer skills including MS Office applications.</p></li><li><p>Ability to understand and use bank policies and procedures to ensure operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.</p></li><li><p>Ability to quickly adapt to frequent changes, delays or unexpected events in the work environment.</p></li><li><p>Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment to meet all designated deadlines.</p></li><li><p>Ability to communicate effectively and positively, both orally and in written form.</p></li><li><p>Ability to maintain a positive, professional attitude when dealing with stressful, difficult situations.</p></li><li><p>Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail.</p></li><li><p>Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex system processes.</p></li><li><p>Leads by example and contributes to building positive team spirit.</p></li></ul><p>Preferred:</p><ul><li>Familiarity with all federal and state banking regulations preferred.</li></ul><p>About HomeTrust Bank</p><p>HomeTrust Bank, founded in 1926, is a North Carolina chartered, community-focused financial institution committed to providing value-added community banking through online/mobile channels and multiple locations in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
