Job Summary

Primary responsibilities include the solicitation and origination of mortgage, real estate related and other HomeTrust Bank loan products. The incumbent counsels borrowers to ensure they acquire a loan product appropriate to their circumstances, assesses the best options for the customer's needs, and makes appropriate recommendations. This position analyzes the prospective borrower's income and debt, counsels borrower on credit record or other problems, and pre-qualifies the borrower.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions

  • Originates mortgage loans.

  • Interviews customers and completes detailed loan application.

  • Prequalifies borrowers using standard underwriting procedures.

  • Counsels customers on home buying and financing process.

  • Develops and maintains personal loan pipeline.

  • Works with Loan Processor to facilitate underwriting and processing phases of loans.

  • Answers telephone and written inquiries concerning active loans and bank loan offerings.

  • Cross-sells financial institution products and services as appropriate.

  • Provides disclosures to borrower including Truth in Lending and Good Faith Estimates.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Required:

  • 3+ years of experience required as a retail loan originator, processor, sales assistant or equivalent experience with a proven sales record.

  • Good basic computer skills.

  • Must be bondable, and valid driver's license.

  • Ability to understand and use bank loan policies and procedures to support positive customer interactions.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, staff, and the general public in a positive, problem solving manner.

  • Ability to listen to and convey accurately and quickly, detailed information, important instructions and/or ideas.

  • Ability to think and act independently within guidelines and limitations of bank policy and assigned personal authority.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.

Preferred:

  • College degree in related field.

You may review, modify, or update your information by visiting and logging into the careers section of the system.</p><p>Job Description:</p><p>At Regions, the Mortgage Community Officer establishes relationships with nonprofit housing groups, state and local housing offices, and community-based affordable housing organizations to generate and increase mortgage lending opportunities - particularly opportunities that support Regions' efforts to meet its goals relating to the Community Reinvestment Act (&quot;CRA&quot;) and underserved consumers. This role will focus on originating residential mortgage loans to consumers with low-to-moderate income (as identified by the Department of Urban Housing and Development) and/or secured by property located in low-to-moderate income census tracts. This will include outside sales efforts and use of Regions' network of branches. Responsibilities include qualifying customers, submitting applications, and facilitating essential communication between parties throughout the process.</p><p>Primary Responsibilities</p><ul><li><p>Increases mortgage loan volume, primarily focusing on underserved communities and low-to-moderate income consumers and geographies, through effective selling</p></li><li><p>Promotes the Bank's CRA efforts and generates residential mortgages in targeted areas</p></li><li><p>Establishes relationships with nonprofit housing groups, state and local housing offices, and community based affordable housing organizations to generate and increase CRA mortgage opportunities within targeted areas</p></li><li><p>Partners with state, local and county down-payment-assistance programs</p></li><li><p>Represents the bank at educational seminars, workshops, and housing programs with state and local, and non-profit housing organizations</p></li><li><p>Advises customers on the mortgage loans that are appropriate for their individual financial circumstances</p></li><li><p>Develops leadership abilities in the community when it comes to mortgages and mortgage knowledge</p></li><li><p>Builds and deepens relationships with industry-specific centers of influence, such as real estate agents and contractors</p></li><li><p>Maximizes the bank's resources to assist in selling and establishing relationships</p></li><li><p>Cross-sells bank products at each mortgage closing</p></li><li><p>Structures loan to comply with acceptable lending practices and Federal regulations</p></li><li><p>Complies with all appropriate bank policies and regulatory guidelines</p></li></ul><p>This position requires the tracking of time and is eligible for overtime for hours worked in excess of 40 per week under the Fair Labor Standards Act.</p><p>This position is incentive eligible.</p><p>This position requires registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS).
