A Loan Accounting Supervisor will take "ownership" for the daily operation and management of the team to provide leadership, direction, and supervision & training. S/he administers bank policies, procedures, and regulations to maintain effective departmental operations minimizing risk to the bank. In addition, a department supervisor should fully support the business plan, strategy & philosophy of the company by providing and promoting the highest level of service in accordance with Chemical's standards.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Bachelor's degree required
1 - 3 Years experience in function
3 - 5 Years experience in industry
CPA, CIA, CGMA or equivalent preferred
Understanding of accounting, general ledger function and reconcilement processes in an operations environment. Thorough understanding of internal control and control environment is a plus.
Proven management and supervisory leadership skills. Ability to supervise and lead a team of several individuals; assist in growth of individuals; working with different Bank departments and leadership.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills, the ability to deal effectively with a broad range of employees & customers and the ability to prioritize tasks & enhance operations. Conflict management experience a plus.
Ability to communicate complex accounting issues, bank-wide issues and operations tasks. This role requires ability to effectively communicate thoughts and responses to management, audit and executive leadership.
Continuous improvement and problem solving skills. Ability to be assigned a task and work on specific projects with little supervision involved. Understanding and tracking for deadlines is a must in this role.
Successful financial services experience in a bank setting OR experience in public accounting is preferred.
Proven and strong management skills a must.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises, coordinates, coaches, mentors, and counsels team activities to ensure achievement of assigned goals and objectives. Responsible for staff retention, performance, and developmental coaching
Identifies operational and service deficiencies and recommends solutions to upper management
Manages daily operations and efficiencies of the assigned department.
Ensure timely, accurate posting of customer transactions. Understanding of cutoff, month and quarter-end deadlines.
Administer bank policies and procedures, to maintain effective departmental operations minimizing risk to the bank.
Ensures compliance to banking regulation.
Enforces accounting governance to ensure timely reconcilement of key general ledger and DDA accounts.
Actively participates in regulatory, compliance and audit reviews of processes and procedures.
Facilitates the account reconcilement and SOX certification processes.
Collaborates with the operating units and with the respective lines of business for problem resolution and product development.
