Summary: Insurance Auto Auctions is searching for a Loader Operator to join the team at our facility in San Antonio, TX.

We provide Sellers and Buyers with the best solution to process and acquire total-loss, recovered-theft, fleet lease, dealer trade-in and collision damaged rental vehicles.

Job Description:

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to the following):

  • Operate a front-end loader with 16ft forks to move vehicles and other equipment around the facility and to load/unload trucks delivering or picking up vehicles.

  • Perform required inspections and basic maintenance of front-end loaders to ensure safe operating condition of the loader.

  • Monitor lot inventory of vehicles/parts.

  • Prepare facility for auctions.

  • Record vehicle information.

  • Provide light maintenance of vehicles.

  • Perform vehicle enhancements (i.e. Shrink Wrapping, Steam Cleaning, etc.) as required.

  • Assist visitors by providing appropriate guidance and/or directing them to the appropriate person for additional assistance.

  • Immediately report all violations of company policy to a supervisor or manager.

  • Must remain alert and actively avoid potential safety hazards or situations that may cause damage to property while operating a front-end loader or other heavy equipment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a valid Driver's License

  • Front End Loader Certification preferred

  • General mechanical knowledge of vehicle makes/models

  • Experience in the equipment rental or construction industry and/or related field preferred

  • Ability to work independently

  • Able to communicate effectively with customers

  • Ability to function well as part of a team

Preferred Requirements:

  • Previous forklift operating experience is a plus

  • Experience operating Front-End Loaders Volvo L90G and L90H or similar models.

  • Basic automotive repair skills

Collects materials and provides collection service to the citizens of the City of San Antonio on any assigned route. Transports collected materials to appropriate City disposal or processing facilities. Exercises no supervision. The Solid Waste Management Department rewards eligible employees through performance and safety incentive pay. The Department is committed to providing safe, efficient, and high-quality municipal solid waste management services and recognizes that employee performance and safe work practices are key components in the accomplishment of daily Department operations. For this reason, the Department has established and supports employee incentive pay for both employee performance and safety. To be eligible to receive 5% performance and 5% safety incentive pay you must meet the following criteria: Be a full-time employee, must be able to complete work as required, must have completed the six month probationary period, if a new external hire or if promoted from outside of the Department. Work Location: One of four Solid Waste service centers Essential Job Functions * Operates and maintains side loader truck. * Prepares vehicle for daily assignment by performing pre-trip inspections. * Maintains personal protective equipment and prepares safety equipment to be used during the workday. * Collects all materials from assigned route. * Unloads collected materials at disposal or processing facilities. * Prepares driver's report at the end of the day to report any malfunctions with the truck. * Cleans cab of assigned truck at the end of the day and washes truck once a week. * Courteously responds to citizen's inquiries about departmental services and programs. * Delivers literature which identifies acceptable and non-acceptable materials. * Operates assigned vehicle in a safe manner in accordance with all safety rules and traffic laws. * Performs other related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required. Job Requirements * Ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance. * Six (6) months of commercial truck driving experience or completion of Solid Waste Commercial Driver's License Training Program. * This position requires a valid Texas Class "B" Commercial Driver's License OR valid Class "B" Commercial Driver's License from another state with the ability to obtain a valid Texas Class "B" Commercial Driver's License within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university. * Applicants selected for employment with the City of San Antonio in this position must receive satisfactory results from pre-employment drug testing and background checks. If required for the position, a physical, motor vehicle record evaluation, and additional background checks may be conducted. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Physical requirements include frequently lifting/carrying 40 pounds; visual acuity, speech, and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a commercial vehicle. Subject to walking, sitting, standing, reaching, and twisting to perform the essential functions. Working conditions are primarily outside with frequent exposure to temperature extremes, dust; damp/wet surfaces, and high noise level.
