Insurance Auto Auctions is searching for a Loader Operator I to join the team at our facility in Laurel, MD.

We have exclusive focus on the automotive total-loss industry and over 150 corporate owned facilities across the United States and Canada. We provide Sellers and Buyers with the best solution to process and acquire total-loss, recovered-theft, fleet lease, dealer trade-in and collision damaged rental vehicles.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to the following):

  • Operate a front-end loader with 16ft forks to move vehicles and other equipment around the facility and to load/unload trucks delivering or picking up vehicles.

  • Perform required inspections and basic maintenance of front-end loaders to ensure safe operating condition of the loader.

  • Monitor lot inventory of vehicles/parts.

  • Prepare facility for auctions.

  • Record vehicle information.

  • Provide light maintenance of vehicles.

  • Perform vehicle enhancements (i.e. Shrink Wrapping, Steam Cleaning, etc.) as required.

  • Assist visitors by providing appropriate guidance and/or directing them to the appropriate person for additional assistance.

  • Immediately report all violations of company policy to a supervisor or manager.

  • Must remain alert and actively avoid potential safety hazards or situations that may cause damage to property while operating a front-end loader or other heavy equipment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a valid Driver's License

  • Front End Loader Certification preferred

  • General mechanical knowledge of vehicle makes/models

  • Experience in the equipment rental or construction industry and/or related field preferred

  • Ability to work independently

  • Able to communicate effectively with customers

  • Ability to function well as part of a team

Preferred Requirements:

  • Previous forklift operating experience is a plus

  • Experience operating Front-End Loaders Volvo L90G and L90H or similar models.

  • Basic automotive repair skills

A brighter future is in your hands. We're currently seeking an Equipment Operator. The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Heavy equipment may include trucks, front end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, trenchers, backhoes, loaders and other pieces of equipment. Equipment Operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by policies and procedures. What you'll do: * Operate heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life. * Perform daily safety and maintenance check. * Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required * Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored * Advise Foreman of any requirements for maintenance or repairs * Participate in routine maintenance * Practice workplace safety * Maintain inventory What we're seeking: * Minimum of 3 years' experience in equipment operating and maintenance * Work in/or about situations near direct automotive traffic * Work near or about natural bodies of water * Work 8+ hours per day with applicable breaks x 5 days/week (some overtime/weekend work required) * Ability to work in extreme conditions – temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit * Ability to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of time * Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs.
