How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

As a Load Planner, you are responsible for the production of planning and departure documents related to aircraft weight and balance for all Delta Air Lines mainline departures. Provide instructions for distributing fuel and assisting fuel vendors and maintenance personnel with non-standard fueling procedures, and resolve issues relating to aircraft weight and balance, ensuring compliance with company, federal and/or manufacturer specifications.

Load Planners serve as an informational source on the application of weight and balance, fueling procedures, safety, compliance, as well as dangerous goods separation and segregation, for multiple departments/divisions. Subject to various shifts and overtime during irregular operations.

Summary of responsibilities (not comprehensive of all tasks):

  • Coordinate with internal resources while working under time constraints to dispatch flights safely, securely, and with an accurate WDR.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.

  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.

  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

  • One year of operations experience required.

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English.

  • Able to comprehend and apply information contained in technical manuals.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills are a must.

  • Must successfully complete all required Load Planner Training.

  • Must possess basic computer skills.

  • Should have excellent oral and verbal communication skills.

  • Be willing to work a fixed schedule including weekends, holidays, and different shifts.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • Supervisory and/or LDD experience strongly preferred.

  • Prior training in aircraft weight and balance is highly preferred as evidenced by a Pilot's license, Flight Dispatch license.

  • Aeronautical Engineering degree, Air Force Loadmaster experience, or manual weight and balance experience for any commercial carrier.

  • Candidate should have experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

  • Candidate should also be a self-starter and able to work without supervision while making sound operationally based decisions.

Internal Movement Eligibility:

  • Must be in good standing in current position (no formal performance development
  • Written Coaching Letter, Corrective Action Notice, or Final Corrective Action notice - within the past 6 months).
  • Has not transferred in the past six months from current department in current station.

  • Must be in current role for at least 1 year.
