Job Summary

CITGO Petroleum Corporation is a recognized leader in the refining industry and operates under the well-known CITGO brand. A Process Design Engineer at CITGO's Lake Charles Manufacturing Complex plays an essential role to the organization as it influences the short and long term operability and profitability of various refinery areas. This position develops engineering solutions to projects which arise from both planned capital expenditures and from technical service activities in the refinery. Other duties include supporting the effort to define, design, implement, and start-up the assigned projects and providing assistance and advice in technical matters.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead process studies to evaluate potential options (both technically and economically), determine the optimum solution, and assist in the development of the scope for the selected option. The selected option could be based on economics, safety, and/or environmental.

  • Provide guidance, review, and check process design work performed by engineering contractors on engineering design data, process flow diagrams, P&ID's, process equipment data sheets, and process bid tabulations

  • Support the engineering effort to completely define, design, implement, and start-up the assigned project. Assigned projects could be strategic, maintenance, regulatory, risk mitigation or safety driven.

  • Provide assistance and advice in technical matters to fellow engineers, technicians, and supervisory personnel from all departments within the refinery and the corporation

  • Develop engineering solutions to projects which arise from both planned capital expenditures and from technical service activities in the refinery

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S Degree in Chemical Engineering

  • Minimum (5) years of refinery experience

  • Process Design Engineering experience, preferred

  • Valid driver's license required

Eligibility Requirements:

The Maritime Transportation Security Act requires all persons who will need unescorted access to a regulated facility to have a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), issued in accordance with the rules established by the United States Coast Guard and the Transportation Security Administration. Candidates selected for employment must meet eligibility criteria to obtain a TWIC card.
