Job Summary

This announcement is for two (2) part-time (.60 FTE) vacancies; rotating schedule with alternating shifts and Saturdays as needed.

This position is part of the Agricultural Marketing and Development Division, Livestock Development Unit. The position is located in Worthington, MN at the JBS Swift Plant. Under general supervision, the position provides accurate and impartial weights of livestock through the issuance of Official Certification of State Weight as well as detects and prevents irregularities of the weighing equipment.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Basic math skills.

Ability to write legible and accurate reports.

Ability to transfer numbers from one form to another.

Ability to effectively deal with the public and the employees of the packing companies.

English skills sufficient to perform the job duties described above, using reading, writing and speaking skills.

Ability to hear oral instructions in a noisy environment.

NOTE: Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications listed above will be required to pass a written exam (basic math and name and number matching comparison) prior to the interviewing.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with livestock.

Applicants should be willing or capable of performing the following jobs in the plant * Work in an area where livestock is being killed * Work regularly in temperatures are near or below freezing (Coolers, Loading Dock Freezer) * Work in areas with unpleasant odors * Work in damp or cold conditions (20-30 Degrees-Fabrication) * Work in extreme heat (up to 104 degrees in the kill floor) * Work in areas that require you to lift, pull, or push 50 lbs. * Work with sharp knives or a cutting tool * Willing and capable of working overtime when necessary (Heavy Season- August- February * Available to work Day and Nights * Willing and capable of working Saturdays * Willing and capable of working in or around bloody areas, in a fast pace work environment, performing repetitive hand motions and body movements. Physical demanding jobs may take 5 to 6 weeks for the body to fully adjust to the work conditions, work environment, and job descriptions. LIFTING/ PUSHING/PULLING – 10 lbs. -50 lbs. production NEUTRAL WRIST- Repetitive hand motions and grasping. REACHING – Reaching for product on the conveyor belt with hooks, reaching for boxes, or bags STANDING – Constant standing for 8 to 10 hours per day, 6 days a week (Loading dock 7 days as needed per schedule.) (2 allowed breaks are scheduled based on the union contract and operational requirements.) Loading Dock Heavy Work - Exerting 51 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 26 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 11 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
