Employee Position Title: Livestock Brand Inspector Job Description: Do you have knowledge of the animal industry and livestock and enjoy working outdoors?

If so, you may want to apply for Food Safety & Animal Health Program, Livestock Brand Inspector position. As a Livestock Brand Inspector, you will perform livestock inspections by examining livestock (cattle and horses) to distinguish brands, marks, and other identifying characteristics this may be visual or physical. In addition, as a Livestock Brand Inspector you will also investigate cases of stray cattle and horses to determine ownership.

This may consist of door-to-door contact with neighbors; telephone and/or person-to-person contact with law enforcement official. The Livestock Brand Inspector is a Part-time "work as work is available" position. The positions will be in 4 locations and these positions are not represented by the Union.

Western Oregon area (District 1) - Clatsop, Columbia, Multnomah, Tillamook, Washington, Marion, Polk, Clackamas, Yamhill, Benton, Lincoln, Linn, Lane, Douglas, Currey, and Coos North Central Oregon area (District 2) - Hood River, Wasco, Sherman, Gilliam, Morrow, Wheeler, Jefferson, Crook, Deschutes. Southern Oregon Area (District 3) - Klamath, Jackson, Lake, Josephine, and Harney counties. Eastern Oregon Area (District 4) - Union, Baker, Grant, Wallowa, and Malheur counties.

The aim of the Animal Health and Identification programs are to enhance economic production of livestock.

We accomplish this through working toward the control and eradication of animal diseases (including those transmissible to humans), prevent livestock theft by denying a market for stolen animals through recording of brands and inspection of animals, and ensuring animal feeds meet nutritional and labeling standards. Inclement weatheroutside work. Inspection work in countryinspecting livestock in unrestricted pens and alleys. Travel on unimproved roads.

Irregular work schedule. This is what you need to qualify Must have two years of experience in the livestock industry which shows knowledge of: Handling and branding livestock Ranch management procedures Livestock marketing procedures Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record Additional Requirement This position requires a thorough knowledge of livestock and the industry.

The employee must deal with difficult and unruly people and must do public relations work. The employee must operate electric equipment (electric clippers) often in inclement weather. The employee must climb vehicles that haul livestock.
