Position Title: Paralegal

Reports to: Associate General Counsel

How you will impact WestRock:

Assist attorneys in managing all aspects of litigation and regulatory practice with a focus on employment compliance support, i.e., managing deadlines, tracking developments; case investigation and support, interaction with in-house and/or outside counsel.

Draft written narratives to communicate obligations, risk analyses, and recommendations to HR policy, process, and system owners and senior stakeholders.

Consult on supporting documentation such as manager and employee communications, FAQs,

and standard operating processes.

Assist litigation and employment counsel in various areas of compliance, including

training programs, compliance hotline and affirmative action plans.

Assist with other legal support activities, such as employment agreements, reimbursements, collections, etc.

Ensure ongoing education and training of internal business partners on risk and employment compliance related topics in response to ongoing or new legal and employment compliance requirements and in remediation of employment compliance issues.

Audit current employee handbooks and HR policies and update as required.

What you need to succeed:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university is required Paralegal Certificate from an accredited Paralegal Program and NALA certification is preferred
5+ years'experience strongly preferred

Experience with wide range of subject matter areas (significant employment law experience is a plus)

Ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced environment; well-organized and able to manage multiple and changing priorities.

Strong internal and external communications skills and ability to work with remote managers and business leaders.

Ability to work independently as well as within a collaborative team environment.

Energized by change and interested in creating solutions through use of technology


Excellent written and analytical skills.

Advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite, including Sharepoint, Excel, Skype and Powerpoint.

We have an opening for a Nurse Medical Management that may be filled as a level I/II. The level will be determined in accordance to the candidates experience in relation the requirements of the position. The Nurse Medical Management I position is responsible for collaborating with healthcare providers and members to promote quality member outcomes, to optimize member benefits, and to promote effective use of resources. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to: * Ensures medically appropriate, high quality, cost effective care through assessing the medical necessity of inpatient admissions, outpatient services, focused surgical and diagnostic procedures, out of network services, and appropriateness of treatment setting by utilizing the applicable medical policy and industry standards, accurately interpreting benefits and managed care products, and steering members to appropriate providers, programs or community resources. * Applies clinical knowledge to work with facilities and providers for care coordination. * Works with medical directors in interpreting appropriateness of care and accurate claims payment. * May also manage appeals for services denied. * Conducts pre-certification, inpatient, retrospective, out of network and appropriateness of treatment setting reviews to ensure compliance with applicable criteria, medical policy, and member eligibility, benefits, and contracts. * Ensures member access to medical necessary, quality healthcare in a cost effective setting according to contract. * Consult with clinical reviewers and/or medical directors to ensure medically appropriate, high quality, cost effective care throughout the medical management process. * Collaborates with providers to assess member's needs for early identification of and proactive planning for discharge planning. * Facilitates member care transition through the healthcare continuum and refers treatment plans/plan of care to clinical reviewers as required and does not issue non-certifications. * Facilitates accreditation by knowing, understanding, correctly interpreting, and accurately applying accrediting and regulatory requirements and standards. This position may work out of the following offices: Indianapolis IN, Richmond VA, Atlanta GA or Albany NY- onsite. Shift Hours: Monday- Friday, either 9am -6pm EST or 10am-7pm EST * Requires 2 years of acute care clinical experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. * Current unrestricted RN license in Indiana or Virginia is required. * AS/BS in nursing preferred. * Utilization Management experience highly preferred.
