We are seeking attorneys with at least five years of insurance bad faith and extracontractual experience to join our team! This is a remote/virtual position and we are open to candidates anywhere in the United States with a valid Bar license. Job Summary

The Litigation Management Counsel is responsible for direct communications with the Company regarding evaluations and recommendations relating to complex and high exposure litigation against the Company. Litigation Management Counsel also coordinates and oversees outside counsel in trial and appellate work and is accountable for evaluating, assessing, designing and implementing litigation strategy in collaboration with defense counsel as well as assuring the litigation against the Company is handled in a consistent, efficient and effective manner. Litigation Management Counsel assists handling attorneys on matters of procedure and substantive law including, pleadings, discovery matters and policy coverage questions.

Essential Job Functions

• Works closely with the Company to assess litigation for extra contractual exposure and to educate Claims personnel on legal issues related to Claims practices.

• Reports on trends and provides recommendations related to the litigation managed.

• Consulting with claims personnel on selected claims

• Responsible for completing evaluations and investigations on complex and high exposure cases.

• Identifies areas and issues which may give rise to exposure to the Company.

• Also recommends strategies and settlements in complex litigated matters and attends litigation conferences, arbitration hearings, settlement conferences and trials.

• Monitors outside counsel to ensure adherence to litigation plans.

• Works with assigned outside legal counsel to ensure litigation against the Company is handled in accordance with the objectives of the litigation.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Actions

Required job duties are essentially sedentary work consisting of occasional walking, standing and lifting and/or carrying 25 lbs. ma ximum, bending, talking, hearing, driving, seeing, speaking and traveling.

Education Requirements

JD degree required and active membership in a State Bar in the state in which position is located or registered as in-house counsel in California.

Experience Requirements

A minimum of seven years as an attorney. The preferred candidate will have five years experience advising senior level management, litigating or managing insurance bad faith matters, as in-house counsel for an insurance company, and delivering training on legal or claims issues. Excellent written and oral communications skills, including exceptional presentation skills. Highly collaborative working style with demonstrated commitments to meeting individual and team goals. Strong internal and external customer service ethics focusing on identifying as well as implementing solutions to complex business and legal challenges.
