UWorld is seeking a full-time Litigation Attorney to write and edit content for our web-based products. Litigation Attorneys will work on-site and collaborate with a team of attorneys, editors, and illustrators to produce high-quality content for our MBE, MEE, and MPT Question Banks, in addition to other product development. This ground-floor opportunity is long-term, so candidates will have the potential to engage in in the product life cyclefrom product planning and development to completion and maintenance.

This position reports to the Bar Prep Product Manager.


  • J.D. (top 30% preferred)

  • Minimum of 3 years of practice experience in Federal Court

  • Exceptional communication skills, superior legal knowledge, and passion for teaching future lawyers

  • Passed the Bar Exam (above 150 on MBE preferred)

  • Proven ability to write high-quality MBE questions and explanations

  • Proficient in MS Office/working knowledge of IT

  • Willing to relocate and work onsite in Dallas, Texas

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop original content for the MBE, MEE, MPT, and other UWorld Question Banks, including writing questions and comprehensive explanations that follow the UWorld style and are based on examination blueprints and realistic legal scenarios

  • Review and revise content written by other team members, providing and receiving feedback with tact and diplomacy, and focusing on accuracy, precision, readability, and educational value

  • Work with UWorld's illustration team to create original images highlighting important legal concepts

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of lawyers, editors, illustrators, IT/customer support professionals, and others to produce content, improve processes, develop new features, and respond to user feedback

  • Manage time effectively while multitasking and contributing to a collaborative and laid-back work environment

  • Complete other tasks as requests

VIEW JOBS 12/13/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-13T00:00 Brief Description As a member of the global Noble Energy Legal Team residing in Houston, this position will be responsible for managing complex commercial litigation and other disputes in multiple jurisdictions with an emphasis on oil and gas related matters. This position will also support the General Counsel in connection with Board reporting and enterprise risk management. Detailed Description Litigation management * Serve as point of contact for company for litigation matters. * Effectively manage outside legal counsel to deliver results consistent with business strategy and value while managing client expectations. * Ensure that litigation is managed per risk and business goals. Develop and embed litigation management guidelines. * Conclude disputes effectively and efficiently and reduce inventory of cases. * Manage litigation budget. * Proactively report significant developments to management. * Serve as liaison between outside legal counsel and client groups and collaborate effectively with legal counsel for business units on litigation strategy, management and support at the onset of the dispute or litigation. * Design case strategy in collaboration with business units and legal counsel for business units and insure that business unit attorney is aware of significant developments. * Proactively assess opportunities for litigation to advance business goals (including as plaintiff), with input from the legal counsel for business units. * Serve as GC representative in litigation matters and effectively report developments, changes to risk profile and other matters relevant to senior management. * Consistently assess and communicate with business and management (as necessary) regarding opportunities for early case resolution. * Representative cases include: royalty disputes and claims to quiet title; environmental and Louisiana Coastal Zone litigation; personal injury, construction, and general commercial disputes. * Support EHS attorney as needed in managing environmental claims. * Support HR attorney as needed in managing employment-related claims. Claims/insurance and reporting * Support GC and governance team on Board reporting. * Assess litigation contingency reserves and support SEC litigation disclosures. * Support and partner with contracts attorney and overall legal team on indemnity and insurance and related contract terms. * Serve as legal liaison to company insurance team. * Prepare reports to Board re D&O insurance. * Respond to third-party demands for indemnity and subpoenas; support affirmative indemnity and insurance claims. Enterprise Risk Management * Support General Counsel in connection with Enterprise Risk Management. * Identify industry litigation trends and act proactively to avoid claims. * Engage with and support EHS, HR Compliance and Security as requested on internal investigations and policy development. * Support and lead team projects and training as requested by the GC. Personal characteristics * Exemplify continuous improvement. * Take a team approach to strategy for management of litigation; * Enhance brand and standing of legal team throughout company by demonstrating Noble values.
