Job Summary

Literature/English Teacher Teacher will creatively instruct students on the reading and analysis of literature along with writing essays in response to the literature. Teacher will also provide instruction on grammar, mechanics and usage. 2023-24 School year runs from August 24th- May 31st We are looking for a creative, energetic teachers who love working with middle schoolers. With our small class sizes (~15 students per class) and block scheduling, you will have the opportunity to cover materials in depth, connect with your students, incorporate games and activities and provide additional support to those who need it. Our objective is to make learning fun in a supportive, nurturing environment! The students at NLA (Noble Learning Academy) are enthusiastic, respectful, funny, hard-working and a blast to teach. More details: Teacher will creatively instruct students on the reading and analysis of literature along with writing essays in response to the literature. Our literature classes are a dive into many genres of literature, short stories, and poetry. You will instruct students to read critically and write literary analysis with growing confidence and increased effectiveness in the areas of grammar, syntax, and style.You will also train students to annotate as they read, finding main ideas/themes and words. You will begin providing evidence from texts to make inferences and support arguments in five paragraph essays, including construction of a three-part thesis, following the style of Modern Language Association. You will prepare for discussions with a focus on critical thinking, comparative skills, and application of literature to our modern times. You will also demonstrate understanding of character development, plot lines, points of view, settings, and many more literary devices.
