The Literacy Paraprofessional will work with small groups of students under the supervision of the school's reading specialist.

The paraprofessional will focus on the area of reading and will work on phonics, fluency or comprehension.

Other duties include daily morning and after school supervision.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Instruct small groups of students in the area of reading

  • Assist with the planning and preparation of instructional materials.

  • Assist with assessing student progress.

  • Assist with a variety of teachers depending on the needs of students.

  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by administration.

  • Participates in staff development activities as directed by contract.

HOURS
35 hours a week, 7 hours a day.

Qualifications:

  • Paraprofessional letter, Aide approval

  • Excellent Communication Skills

  • Basic Computer Knowledge

  • Certified Teachers preferred

Duties and Responsibilities: * Provides professional development in content knowledge, content-specific pedagogy, differentiated instruction, effective teaching strategies, learning modules, and mathematics standards and curriculum both regionally and within the context of a school or district * Stays up-to-date with reform efforts and current research in the area of teaching and learning of mathematics. * Assists teachers and schools in identifying areas of highest need and developing focused intervention plans for intensive professional development in identified high need areas. * Provides support in curriculum alignment and development of identification of supplemental materials in math. * Guides and facilitates collaborative grade-level or subject area teams or professional learning communities in the area of math. * Works along side participating teachers, and principals modeling effective classroom practices, observing instruction and facilitating reflection to promote student learning of worthwhile mathematics. * Provides support in the use and analysis of diagnostic and formative assessments and other data on student achievement to improve instruction in math.
