Job Summary

The School of Teacher Education and Leadership at Radford University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in literacy education with primary responsibilities in the MS in Literacy Education program and undergraduate teacher preparation programs. The successful candidate will: have an active program of research; be responsible for teaching online graduate courses and undergraduate campus-based courses; and provide service to the School, College, University, and professional organizations or other external agencies.

The position is for a tenure-track, 9-month faculty appointment to begin Fall 2024 in the School of Teacher Education and Leadership with the opportunity for supplemental summer teaching. Local residency is required. Physical Demands Required Qualifications

  • Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in literacy education or related field.

  • Candidates must have K-12 teaching experience.

  • Candidates must have experience as a literacy coach.

  • Candidates must have a successful record of teaching graduate and undergraduate literacy education courses in virtual and in-person environments.

  • Candidates must demonstrate commitment to fostering a community of inclusiveness through culturally relevant professional practice.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing and implementing professional development in K-12 schools; instructional expertise in two or more of the following areas:

  • Meeting the instructional needs of diverse learners

  • Literacy instruction for multilingual learners

  • Literacy coaching

  • Literacy intervention and assessment

  • Content area & disciplinary literacy instruction

Education

A doctoral degree in literacy education or related field
