Job Title: Literacy Coach Reports To: Executive Director of Educational Services FLSA Status: Exempt Position Status: Full-time (204-day Work Calendar) Salary: $46,700-$80,904 (Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification.)

SUMMARY

The P-3 Literacy Coach plays a critical role in supporting early literacy instruction and improving outcomes for students in PreK through 3rd grade. This position involves providing high-quality, evidence-based coaching to Foundational Literacy educators within the school/district. The coach collaborates closely with teachers, administrators, district leaders, and other stakeholders to enhance instructional practices, facilitate professional development, and promote literacy achievement among young learners.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Support AJUSD Vision, Mission, and Goals.

  • Collaborate with school/district leadership to develop and implement a comprehensive literacy coaching program aligned with best practices and research-based strategies.

  • Provide individualized coaching and support to Foundational Literacy educators, including modeling effective instructional techniques, co-planning lessons, and co-teaching as needed.

  • Conduct regular classroom observations to assess instructional practices, identify areas for improvement, and provide constructive feedback to teachers.

  • Facilitate professional development sessions, workshops, and PLC's focused on evidence-based literacy instruction, assessment, and intervention strategies.

  • Assist in the selection, adaptation, and implementation of instructional materials, resources, and technology tools to support early literacy development.

  • Analyze student data, including assessment results and progress monitoring data, to inform instructional decision-making and tailor coaching interventions to meet individual student needs.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and community partners to foster a literacy-rich environment both in and out of the classroom.

  • Provides support to parent education and home/school connection initiatives.

  • Stay current on research, trends, and best practices in early literacy instruction and coaching through professional learning opportunities and ongoing professional development.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Literacy, Elementary, or a related field

  • Valid Arizona teaching certification, PreK-8

  • K-5 Literacy Endorsement

  • Previous experience as a literacy coach, reading specialist, or instructional coach preferred

  • Strong knowledge of early literacy development, literacy assessment, and evidence-based instructional strategies

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills

  • Ability to analyze data and use it to inform instructional decision-making

  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and culturally responsive teaching practices

  • Demonstrated ability to lead professional development sessions and facilitate collaborative learning communities
