The back end developer will be responsible for prototyping, developing, and testing the first iteration of our natural language processing component. The product is written in Common Lisp. In a self-contained deployment, the product is distributed to users along with front-end application in an Electron package with Steel Bank Common Lisp. As a hosted application, the Engine is delivered as an API for remote users.
The back end developer will work with the chief architect on a daily basis to implement, verify, optimize, and improve a Lisp database engine which complies with the MSL 1.0 standards as provided by the architect. The developer will work closely with the architect to determine the specifics of the implementation. The developer will write code and comments as well as prepare software documentation and technical diagrams. The developer will create test cases for the software and document their correct execution. The developer will maintain a bug status list and correct software bugs as they are identified in priority order. The developer will work with other team members to solve problems and to peer review all code before it is submitted to the repository.
The ideal candidate will have experience with Common Lisp or a language in the Lisp family. Experience with high-availability or mission-critical software is of significant benefit. An interest in AI, machine intelligence, and natural language processing are a good fit for this position. No particular degree or diploma are necessary, though most candidates for this position will have a CS degree. A combination of remote and on-site work in The Woodlands, TX, is preferred.
The ideal back end developer is someone with wide experience in the computer field who is comfortable navigating new and unproven domains. This developer has likely worked on numerous platforms with different languages and API constraints. This candidate may not have experience in either AI or Lisp but has the background to understand the relevance of both. The implications of the Mimix technology across society should feel personally relevant to this person. The position being offered is a 1-year internship in conjunction with a National Science Foundation Grant with the possibility of hiring for a long-term position. This is a salaried, exempt position with an annual salary of $59,986 plus medical benefits. Employees who successfully complete a 1-year internship and are subsequently hired for a long-term position will also receive a Company stock award.
