Join one of the nation's most comprehensive academic medical centers, UChicago Medicine as an LIS/Beaker-Programmer Lead for the IT Clinical Applications department.
Job Summary:
The LIS/Beaker-Programmer Lead is a top-level technical expert in one or more highly specialized areas of lab information systems. They act independently under general direction, provide technical consulting on complex projects and devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering equipment/system capacity and limitations, lab operations, and output of desired results. Responsible for program design, configuration, testing and documentation of solutions. Has full technical knowledge of all phases of systems configuration and project management. May have duties instructing, directing, and checking the work of other LIS personnel. May have quality assurance review responsibilities.
Essential Job Functions:
Provides technical consulting
Devises or modifies procedures
Performs program design, configuration, testing and documentation
Develops and executes project plans
Handles / monitors migration of build to multiple environments
Mentors less experienced LIS staff
May have duties instructing, directing, and checking the work of other LIS personnel
May have quality assurance review responsibilities
May act as a business expert in assisting users to define requirements
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent training or work experience
Epic Beaker certification
Five years of relevant Epic experience (does not have to all be with Beaker)
Six years of system analysis, configuration, and technical design
Requires technical creativity and strong understanding of information technology in healthcare
Demonstrated ability to self-direct, multi-task, and partner with technical staff from different departments
Must work well in a team environment and be able to partner with both business and technical team members
Demonstrated ability to identify areas for improvement, capable of making recommendations, and implementing solutions
Demonstrated ability to lead group discussions and develop consensus
Strong organizational and project planning skills
Preferred Qualifications:
PMP or equivalent project management certification
Epic Certifications outside of Beaker
Leadership training/certifications or master's degree
