Liquidity Risk Specialist

The Liquidity Risk Specialist produces information that will assist in the effective management of Comerica's various balance sheet initiatives related to its funding position and liquidity risk management process.

Position Competencies:

Successful incumbents possess and applies a basic knowledge of principles, practices and procedures to aid in the completion of assignments; have knowledge of and practical application of balance sheet analysis within a defined scope and knowledge of treasury related financial models; have technical and problem-solving skills; great communication, organization skills and attentive to detail skills; and have a strong understanding of bank products.

Position Responsibilities:

Liquidity Management Process:

  • Run daily and periodic liquidity reporting used for daily decisions made by Liquidity Senior Manager or management.

  • Assist in the regular review and compliance of all liquidity risk policies, procedures and processes (such as Comerica's Contingency Funding Plan, Liquidity Management Policy, & Stress Test documentation) by running daily, weekly, and /or annual reports.

  • Provide monthly management reporting necessary to ensure compliance with liquidity regulations such as SR 10-6, FDIC debt related assessment rules, etc.

  • Assist senior members of the team with daily tasks related to optimizing Comerica's use of collateral given regulatory requirements by Federal Reserve.

  • Provide periodic reporting of Comerica's expenses related to the wholesale funding portfolio.

  • Provide assistance with management of the HQLA portfolio by providing reporting, assisting with collateral management, and performing other daily tasks.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Finance or related field
  • 1 year of experience contributing to small to medium projects providing specified deliverables
  • 1 year of experience in building financial models
  • 2 years of experience utilizing Microsoft Office Products including Word, Powerpoint and Excel including pivot tables, graphs, chart

VIEW JOBS 4/18/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-17T00:00 Job Details: Summary: The Risk Analyst in the Stress Testing Group performs a broad array of risk management actives to support OCC's stress testing and liquidity risk management functions. They will mainly be responsible for assisting in the creation, execution and reporting of stress tests that will be run daily in order to analyze the sufficiency of OCC's financial resources. Responsibilities also include analyzing past and potential future liquidity demands in order to gauge the sufficiency of OCC's liquidity resources. Responsibilities also include direct interaction with OCC senior management, Clearing Members, regulatory bodies, and other internal & external stakeholders. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: * Analyze market and stress test risk exposures for all products and accounts cleared by OCC. Analysis is performed using proprietary OCC tools/applications. Products include equities, government securities, options, futures options, and futures. * Prepare reports regarding position and financial exposures. * Support clearing member's inquiries regarding OCC's stress test policies and procedures. * Assist in documenting new or enhancing existing policies and procedures as needed. * Assist in the creation, maintenance, execution and reporting of daily stress testing activities. * Analyze the impact of stress tests on OCC's Financial Resources. * Keep current with market conditions to assess the needs to adjust stress test practices in light of changes in market conditions and/or OCC's business lines. * Monitor current and future liquidity demands against OCC's Liquidity Resources for sufficiency, report on liquidity issues to management. * Interface with other risk management functions within OCC when analyzing and reporting on clearing member stress tests results to assist in the monitoring of counterparty risk. * Collaborate with internal and external IT resources to support the systems development needs of the group. * Collaborate with Quantitative Risk Management Group on the development of stress tests. * Conduct miscellaneous studies and analysis for senior management. * Perform other duties as assigned. * Occasional travel required. Qualifications: * Knowledge of leading practices and trends in stress testing. * Ability to work well under pressure with multiple competing priorities and time-sensitive deadlines. * Self-directed; Ability to work both independently with minimal direction or oversight in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. * Strong verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable working in a customer service-oriented environment and addressing questions from OCC colleagues, regulators, OCC Clearing Members and other stakeholders. Good listening skills. * Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, including ability to interact effectively with peers, all levels of management, regulators and member firms. * Familiarity with the principles, practices, and techniques involved in conducting scenario-based stress tests in accordance with the requirements set forth in the CPMI-IOSCO PFMI. * Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, and evaluate facts, and prepare and present concise oral and written reports. * Strong problem solving and analytical capabilities. * Experience within regulated financial services industry. * Experience with central counter-party clearing, settlement of derivatives, financial risk management and regulated capital markets infrastructure. * Good organization skills; must be detail oriented. * Comfortable performing data validation and reconciliation. * Familiarity with securities and futures markets and derivative valuation. * Knowledge of applicable industry rules and regulations (SEC, CFTC, OCC Rules). * Strong understanding of statistical concepts (i.e. VaR, Expected Shortfall, Student-T and Normal Distributions, etc.). Technical Skills: * Strong PC skills; comfortable with Windows environment. * Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, including experience using lookups and pivot tables. * Comfortable performing data analysis and manipulation on large, complex sets of information with little oversight. * Knowledge of data analytics applications and familiarity with data visualization. * Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. * Experience using Bloomberg and/or Thomson Reuters desktop client, and ability to connect these tools to excel a plus. * Familiarity with relational databases and ability to modify & execute SQL using appropriate query tools (i.e. SQuirreL, TextPad, DB2 Connect) a plus. Education and/or Experience: * Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in relevant fields including Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering among others. * MBA, MS or equivalent graduate degree or demonstrable progress towards such degree in a relevant field preferred. * Knowledge of different stress testing methodologies such as CCAR. * Previous experience in financial services back office or risk management required, minimum of 1 year.
