AE Business Solutions is adding an experienced Linux Systems Administrator to our growing team to help the facilitation and completion of medium to large scale IT projects. We share a friendly, open, and collaborative team dynamic.

This Linux Systems Administrator II will provision servers, applications, databases, load balancers, devices and desktops while facilitating asset management, configuration management, firewall rules, documentation and internal team handovers.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Centos, Microsoft Windows, F5 Load Balancers, SVN, CFEngine, GitLab, Puppet, Confluence Wiki, Atlassian JIRA, OpenShift, Elastic Search, Kibana, Logstash, Sandvine, Active Directory, Open LDAP, 6Connect, CommVault, VMWare, Nagios, Python, Perl, Bash, Java, Apache, MySQL, ORACLE, Couchbase, VISIO, Kickstart and TCPDump.

What do we do with them?

Console and remote logins to Physical and Virtual servers/devices

Troubleshoot access and/or performance issues

Deploy physical and virtual servers

Adding systems, IPs and software to a proprietary asset management system

Creating/modifying Load Balancer configurations

Creating/maintaining actionfiles and manifests

Creating firewall sheets, network diagrams, creating change control plans

Interacting with Project Managers, Managers, Developers, Network Engineers and other Administrators

Create and maintain scripts written in Bash, Python and/or Perl

Setting up monitoring and log rotation

Designing Geo-diverse, Highly Available and Load Balanced servers/applications

Executing Production deployments during non-business hours

Deploying systems in a Development, Quality Assurance and Production stack

Creating MySQL databases and setting up replication

Creating, expanding and maintaining physical and logical file systems

Volunteering to host Lunch N Learn meetings teaching technologies youre passionate about

Qualifications: Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 1 to 2 years' experience working in a software environment, of which at least 1 year must be directly involved in requirement gathering) or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Basic understanding of software product lifecycle and requirements methodology * Basic understanding of software requirement gathering methodologies, for example waterfall, Agile, Spiral, JAD sessions, as well as best practices * Basic understanding of different requirement types such as Business, User, Functional, and non- Functional * Basic MS Office skills * Business skills including the following: documentation, presentation, interpersonal, and communication * Good problem solving and analytical skills * Good planning and organizational skills * Ability to interact with relational databases at a basic level * Demonstrated ability to understand the business need and define requirements Management Role: No management responsibility Working Conditions and Environment: * Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. * Occasional drives to site locations with occasional travel both domestic and international.
