TerraNova is looking for a Linux System Administrator for our end client.
Duration: Full time
Location:Dulles, VAJob Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day aspects of the network and server environment including the monitoring and administration of our Linux based servers
Lead the planning of major software and hardware project initiatives in the AWS environment including backup and restore capabilities as well as the disaster recovery capability
Analyze performance issues and optimize the platform
Partner with product support specialists and other team members to assist with customer reported issues
Quickly acclimate to the dynamic environment and be able to address customer inquiries.
Design, Installation, optimization, and management of high-performance Linux systems.
Create, update and manage shell scripts in a Red Hat environment, including operational and monitoring scripts
Work with our hosting partner by participating in the design and planning of the new AWS platform elevations expanding our Cloud capacity.
Proactively monitor the platform and ensure the continuous availability of the applications.
Proactively schedule and apply patches and other configuration changes.
Participate in Capacity planning.
Perform infrastructure troubleshooting, resolve issues and document solutions.
Develop and maintain system tools for the automation of various processes and support tasks
Create and maintain operational procedure documentation.
Partnering with product support specialists to assist with tracking down customer reported issues
Experience and Qualifications:
10+ years of in-depth experience in installation and management of Red Hat Linux systems in a multi-tenant production environment
10+ years of experience in managing web and application servers such as Apache and Tomcat
In-depth experience in the design, implementation, procurement, tradecraft, or maintenance of various layers of network infrastructure
Real-time experience in backup, recovery and disaster recovery capabilities in production environments
Strong experience in supporting infrastructure on Cloud and virtualization environments
Solid understanding of firewall configurations and Linux file system options is required.
Experience monitoring network activity and network traffic redirection
Familiarity with proxy implementations (e.g. iptables, mod_proxy, digital certificates etc.)
Real-time experience in various AWS load balancing services such as ELB and ALB
Experience with performance tuning and optimization of network and servers in a Cloud environment is required
Excellent writing, documentation and communication skills
Experience managing Java and Oracle-based applications is a plus
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited college/university
RedHat, VMWare and/or AWS certifications are a plus
