RMC is hiring a Linux System Administrator to support one of our Department of Navy (DoN) customers in Charleston, SC. The selected applicant will manage the functionality and efficiency of a group of Linux servers, workstations and embedded systems. The selected applicant will also perform and support hardware and software installations, to include but not limited to:

  • Ensuring configuration control procedures

  • Documenting maintenance, repair and test activities

  • Creating and maintain user accounts, and install hardware/software

  • Monitoring status of LAN/WAN and circuit switching systems

  • Setting up and administrating systems RHEL and Windows operating systems

  • Writing and maintaining automation scripts for RHEL and other operating systems

  • Supporting IBM Rational Tools hosted on the Linux Servers.

  • Supporting the implementation of Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs)

  • Supporting software developers and Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) environments

  • Operating test equipment to ensure circuit, system and network signals meet minimum standards; perform circuit, systems and network patching, and cross connecting to establish, sustain and restore service

  • Performing QA evaluations to ensure compliance with technical orders and manufacturer specification sheets

Eight (8) years of relevant experience is required. A Bachelor of Science in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field is preferred. The selected applicant must have a DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 Certification or greater (Security+ CE, equivalent, or greater) and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Security Clearance: An active DoD Secret clearance is required to start. Applicant selected may be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Functions include planning and scheduling the installation of new or modified hardware and operating systems and applications software; managing accounts, network rights; managing systems resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability; implementing security procedures and tools; developing and documenting systems administration standard operating procedures; resolving significant hardware/software interface and interoperability problems; ensuring systems availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency; maintaining systems configuration; managing the installation and integration of system fixes, updates, and enhancements; and ensuring the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices. Experience with user account management and associated DoD security practices. This position will require proficiency in ACAS and using other vulnerability tools.
