For the DIA Directorate of Science and Technology (DS&T), the Advanced Technology Integration Program (ATIP) provides IT managed services for Special Access Program (SAP) systems supporting activities to enable DIA's sensitive technical collection.

AT&T has an opening for a System/Linux Administrator for the ATIP systems in providing managed IT support of SAP-IT systems for high-priority defense intelligence collection needs and develop and field advanced technical collection capabilities and systems that leverage emerging methods, phenomenologies, and technologies.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Monitors system performance including legacy servers and cloud systems.

  • Performs legacy and cloud O&M administration.

  • Solves legacy server and cloud & virtualization issues.

  • Administers ACE user accounts, solve minor client system issues.

Required Clearance:

Mandatory Security Clearance Requirement: TS/SCI with Polygraph (#polygraph)

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience managing legacy Linux servers and cloud resources.

  • Highly versed in Linux administration and best practices

  • Familiar with enterprise network architectures

  • Experience with automated configuration management (Puppet, Chef, etc.).

  • Fluency in programming/scripting skills for automation in at least two of Bash, Ruby, Python, and Perl

  • General understanding of Linux internals (system calls, file systems, processes, etc.)

  • General understanding of TCP/IP and related protocols (HTTP, FTP, NFS, etc.)

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institute in an area applicable to this position and four (4) years of relevant experience

  • An additional four (4) years of relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree

  • Must presently be 8570 compliant (IAT Level 2 preferred); must be 8570 compliant (IAT Level 2) by date of security indoctrination with any necessary continuing education (CE) for certification

Desired Qualifications:

Familiar with multi-level security environments.

Job Summary: The Linux System Administrator role is a disciplined position that combines software and systems engineering to support, help build and run cloud-scale, distributed, fault-tolerant systems. Our team ensures that Nuance services have the reliability and uptime to meet the needs of our ever-growing customer base in a mission critical industry: Healthcare hosted products. Practices such as event response, major incident management, minimizing operational work, deep post-mortem exercises, and prevention of potential outages are factoring into the iterative improvement work that the Linux Admin focuses on. In this role you will spend a majority supporting a line of business through phone based, direct contact support, as well as through ticketing systems. You will be supporting the products and customers directly. You will also spend a portion of each day working with other team members on a variety of tasks from monitoring, incident management, completing capacity and deployment based service planning, defining monthly and weekly activities like patch & vulnerability management, and playing a pivotal role in our major incident response team should an incident impact the availability or reliability of one of the Healthcare products. Because of this breadth, the Linux System Administrator maintains a unique position to see the entire division and interact across all teams. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent education required Minimum years of work experience: 2+ years of experience in large complex information systems, and/or Cloud environments. Requirements: * Ability to pass and maintain background investigation and/or security clearance process * Have a social security number and be able to get fingerprinted locally Required skills: * Phone and email based direct customer support experience * Self-motivated with demonstrated analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills * Demonstrated relationship/partnership building abilities * Excellent time management, organizational, communication skills * Experience troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems (applications, operating systems, networking and storage) * Familiarity with cloud support engineering practices including work with customer support for maintenance and repair requests. (Azure is ideal, open to other cloud platforms) * Experience with system monitoring and alerting tools for availability, reliability and performance. * Ability to support failover and handle datacenter region outages. * Hands-on experience working with various software/tools in support of systems/networks (examples: Kubernetes, AMQ, Grafana, Sumologic, Nagios, SaltStack, Zenoss, HP OpenView) * Competency in using Trouble-ticketing & Issue/Project Tracking software (examples: Remedyforce, Confluence, Jira, PagerDuty) * Familiarity supporting Linux and/or Windows-based production environments * Understanding of networking protocols and some basic knowledge in related technology (IP packets, DNS, OSI layers and load balancing) Preferred skills: * Self-motivated and proactive, with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities * Experience with an IT or SaaS environment * Ability to run packet captures and network trace analysis. * Good skills in one of the languages -Shell scripting, Python, or Perl * Strong work ethic and a strong sense of urgency with a can-do attitude Additional Information: Nuance offers a compelling and rewarding work environment.
