Our client was established in 1989 and is headquartered in Virginia Beach, Virginia. For over 25 years they have been providing professional world-wide services to support government initiatives worldwide. Their key service areas include technical documentation, training development and delivery, multimedia support, and technical system support.

They are currently looking for a Linux Developer in Manassas, Virginia.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Linux Developer will develop, enhance and maintain efficient Linux code for complex military systems and subsystems. This position will require the ability to partner with various team members to collaboratively solve deficiencies in the system, assess risks and to provide solutions in accordance with security standards

  • Performs Linux programming tasks for the development of complex military and space systems

  • Installs newly developed software enhancement and improvement packages

  • Isolates the source of system operational performance deficiencies to either software or hardware problems

  • Tests, debugs, and modifies custom software applications as part of a team working an overall systems software development and improvement process

  • Success in this position requires an assertive, confident attitude and a commitment to working as a part of a team to meet critical delivery schedules

Linux Developer Engineer Required Tasks:

  • Develops Linux code and custom software to support software and hardware operability

  • Creates Linux scripts in support of software integration in a laboratory environment

  • Provides support for troubleshooting HW/OS/Drivers/Firmware/Network issues

  • Investigates, troubleshoots, and isolates problems found during testing in a Linux environment and creates detailed bug reports

  • Willingness to work 2nd or 3rd shift when required

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working in an Agile/Sprint release planning environment including depth of understanding of providing impact analysis on testing as Sprint and releases are introduced to the integration environment

  • Experience at the Linux command line

  • Experience interfacing to RESTful APIs using JSON or XML messaging such as Sinatra (Ruby)

  • Sound knowledge of Java/C++ development and how it relates to testing

REQUIRED EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in related discipline or equivalent experience and one to five year's professional experience.

REQUIRED CLEARANCE

Candidate must be U.S. citizen able to obtain a DoD Secret level security clearance.

They are currently seeking an Embedded Linux Software Engineer in Manassas, VA. JOB DESCRIPTION The Embedded Linux Software Engineer participates in a team environment to design, implement, integrate, and test embedded software and systems for the United States Navy. This includes development of firmware and software for embedded systems while working closely with a focused, multi-disciplinary team of engineers. Test, debug, and modify custom software as part of a team working an overall systems software development and improvement process. The ideal candidate will be proactive in identifying and solving tough engineering challenges and focused on delivering high-performance, mission-critical products. The position requires the application of the principles and techniques of computer science and engineering. Success in this position requires an assertive, confident attitude and a commitment to working as a part of a team to meet critical delivery schedules. Embedded Linux Software Engineer - Required Tasks: Developing software for real-time and near real-time embedded and distributed systems on Submarine and Surface Ship programs. Participating in all phases of SDLC including: high level design, detailed design, development, and integration and test. Collaborate with an integrated functional team to ensure adherence to requirements through operational deployment. Work with hardware and integration teams during setup and maintenance/debug efforts, when required. Experience in at least two of the following: Java, C, C++, Python, Bash, HTML5, JavaScript, Node.js and/or React.js REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE * Strong experience at the Linux command line * Integrating software and hardware in complex systems * Strong communication skills with developers to explain integration/test results with developers * Strong attention to detail * Candidate must be U.S. citizen able to obtain a DoD Secret level security clearance DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE * Strong experience at the Linux command line * Experience in Object Oriented Design using a UML tool * Experience with real-time operating system or near-RTOS concepts * Experience working in an Agile/Sprint environment * Experience with Git, Gerrit, or Gradle * Troubleshooting HW/OS/Drivers/Firmware/Network issues Additional Requirements: Bachelor's degree in related discipline or equivalent experience and one to five years professional experience. Willingness to work 2nd or 3rd shift. Familiarity with Navy/Submarine operations is desirable. Willingness to work overtime. Proactive/self-starter. Task driven with ability to work independently. Team player that takes ownership and develops relationships with the team members which fosters team success.
