Position Summary:

On the job education and training. Providing opportunities to gain experience in the field of study. Performs assignments with standardized processes. Works under direct supervision. Resolves questions and problems within established standards and guidelines. Follows established procedures to accomplish requirements of job.

Primary Duties:

  • Files, sorts and arranges documents, correspondence or other materials.

  • Assists the department and members by providing directions, instructions and responses to routine inquiries.

  • prepare or draft letters, reports, letters, vouchers, receipts, permits, lists, schedules, etc.

  • Assists skilled craft workers in a variety of maintenance, repair, or construction work by furnishing and using simple tools, material and supplies.

  • May assemble tools, supplies, materials, and equipment and assists in maintaining them in serviceable condition.

  • Cleans work area machines

  • Operates machines and equipment.

  • Prepares simple reports or keeps maintenance records, and other routine duties in various craft trades and other occupations.

  • May drive automotive equipment to and from work sites.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma (or Equivalent GED).

  • Currently pursuing an Associate in Applied Science degree and/or Certification specializing in High Voltage Lineman at Pratt Community College .

  • Valid State Driver's License.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing with members at all levels throughout the organization and outside professionals.

  • Ability to diagnose problems, determine nature, symptoms and causes of trouble from evidence available and take corrective action or communicates symptoms to others.

  • Ability to effectively use a personal computer with MS Office Suite and related applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and SAP).

  • Strong team skills.

Working Conditions:

  • May Require to travel to various job sites and facilities occasionally requiring staying overnight.

  • May Require to work overtime as needed.

  • Required to work in both an office environment and outside weather conditions.

  • Pushing up to 115 pounds of force.

VIEW JOBS 3/15/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-06-13T00:00 Position Summary: Performs a variety of duties related to the installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of overhead and/or underground distribution systems, transmission facilities, and street light systems to provide continuous and dependable electric service to customers. Primary Duties: * Members in the apprentice program perform duties related to the craft and consistent with their achieved level within the program which may include: * Constructs and maintains overhead and underground distribution or transmission systems in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures. * Climb poles, set poles and string wire, utilizes and operates equipment (e.g., aerial bucket trucks, and other construction equipment), materials, and manpower in a safe, efficient and effective manner. * May operate a variety of electronic and other test equipment with a high degree of efficiency, as needed. * May investigate and document events of cut or damaged cable and other company facilities, as needed. Requirements: * Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with DOT certification. * Associate's Degree in a Technical discipline (i.e. Electronics/Engineering Technology/Power Plant Operations/High Voltage/etc); or * Certificate of completion/diploma in Electrical Power Technology, High Voltage, or related Power Line Technology; or * Prior military experience for at least one enlistment as documented on DD Form 214 combined with utility line experience; or * High School diploma or GED equivalent combined with utility line experience. * May be required to maintain permanent residence within 30 minute driving time to assigned service center (measured from google maps). Preferred Qualifications: * At least 6 months Lineman experience at a utility company. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Ability to climb poles and work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet. * Ability to learn and apply knowledge of electrical principles. * Ability to learn and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company policies. * Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing. * Ability to interact effectively and professionally with team members, leaders, and customers. * Ability to troubleshoot, diagnosis problems, and resolve effectively. * Ability to understand equipment, systems, and processes. * Ability to use common purpose hand tools and other materials of various craft trades. * Ability to adjust and adapt across varied working conditions. * Knowledge and understanding of safety requirements and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). * Knowledge of basic math. * Mechanical skills and familiarity working with mechanical equipment (e.g., aerial bucket trucks, construction equipment). * Ability to work efficiently under minimal supervision. * Computer skills with knowledge of MS-Office Suite (e.g., Outlook). * Basic utility lighting knowledge.
