Umami means "deliciousness." Beyond sweet, sour, salty, and bitter, the fifth taste of Umami is rich and savory. A word coined by the Japanese, Umami is a powerful force behind many of our food cravings. Umami-rich foods include soy sauce, miso paste, and bonito flakes in Asian cuisine; and cured ham, cheese, tomatoes, ketchup and mushrooms in Western Cuisine.

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for ensuring the highest quality food is served at all times. The Line Cook handles all aspects of their assigned cooking station sets up, stock product, cook, and presents dishes according to Umami Burger recipes, cleans, sanitizes and maintains equipment, utensils and tools. Have fun and make friends!

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-3 years of recent experience relevant to this position.

  • Ability to work positively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of weights, measurements, volume and cooking procedures.

  • Must be fluent in the English language, both written and oral. Multilingual skills are a plus.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team.

  • Must be able to work quickly in a confined area and stand for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to work in a fast pace and high-volume environment in the presence of areas containing second hand smoke, high noise levels, dancing, bright lights and dust and communicate during this time sometimes within a small area.

  • Understands and enforce federal, state, and local food sanitation regulations

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (include but are not limited to)

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Continuous use of hands and arms.

  • Works with a sense of urgency.

  • Communicates with management, and all other team members to immediately rectify any and all customer needs and requests.

  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment as outlined by Health District

PHYSICAL AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to stand or walk a minimum eight-hour shift.

  • Ability to work in elevated temperatures.

  • Continuous bending, reaching and twisting required.

  • Must be able observant and quick to respond to various situations and requests while also multitasking and handling stressful situations.

  • Must be able to twist, tow (push or pull), reach, bend, climb and carry objects as needed per business needs.

  • Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds and manually push/pull up to 150 pounds.

  • Excellent communication skills and be able to read, write, speak and understand English is a must.

  • Must be able to work in a fast pace and high-volume environment in the presence of areas containing second hand smoke, high noise levels, dancing, bright lights and dust and communicate during this time sometimes within a small area.

  • Must be able to work inside and outside at all times of the year as needed, based upon business volumes.
