POSITION SUMMARY:
The Line Operator has a thorough understanding of the extrusion process and is responsible for ensuring the production line is operating properly in order to meet production standard both in quality as well as quantity while helping to ensure safety standards are maintained.
A Line Operator must be knowledgeable in and follow all procedures needed to ensure the proper safe and efficient operation of their production line. Position works under established guidelines and company policy.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Monitors schedules and makes preparations for line changeovers, effectively performs screen changes when required, monitors product after each change, when a line is brought back into production, as well as every hour to ensure production quality standards are met, pulls rolls, properly labels and packages product which meets established quality standards, updates Sr. Line Operator throughout the shift on any scrap generated, the cause for the scrap and the corrective action
Monitors line computers and able to recognize any wrong or dangerous conditions and instantly report those to Sr. Line Operator or Team Manager, maintains training in order to be able to shut down or start a line when needed
Pulls all QA tests and monitors results to ensure quality product is being produced, communicates any quality issues found to Sr. Line Operator in timely manner to ensure minimal waste and loss of profit, further trains In quality by performing tasks in the lab including researching, testing and processing rolls with guidance from management to ensure quality standards are being met, maintains calibration of test equipment based on schedule and assists outside vendors in the quality lab, ensures testing, quarantine and sample areas are clean and organized
Stays current and up to date on machinery for production set up as well as to troubleshoot for a variety of issues on assigned line, performs troubleshooting in order to maintain production efforts, fine tunes equipment including to but not limited to die adjustment, setting of edge pins, winder adjustments, etc. in order to ensure quality standards are met.
Completes all shift and line reports in a timely manner and assists in training of other production personnel
Monitors line and work area for cleanliness and performs periodic housekeeping tasks as needed to ensure clean and organized production floor
Other duties as requested or assigned by management
The Salary range is reflective of a Line Operator 2 with Step progression 1 - 13 as required for transparency under the Washington Equal Pay and Opportunities Act.
SCHEDULE:
We now offer 12 Hour Straight Shifts without monthly Rotation, but Shift is subject to availability of open position.
Shift Hours: Day Shift
7:00am
7:00pm
Working a 2-2 3 Schedule with every other weekend as a 3-day weekend off.
This type of schedule gives you more day off! You only work about 14 days per month, but due to 12 hr shifts you have the same hours as if working 20 days per month!!
Work involves Overtime, 12 Hour Shifts, Rotating weekends, and Schedule Changes.
Requires adherence to deadlines and project completion deadlines.

Requirements
Knowledge/Skill/Ability:
Completion and demonstrated proficiencies in the duties of an Extrusion Assistant
Ability to demonstrate sound judgement while adapting to fast paced environment and rapid changes. Able to juggle multiple tasks and handle unexpected delays or events while maintaining constant attention to detail
Strong organizational skills combined with good problem-solving skills
Practice and promote teamwork within our organization.
High level of dependability regarding attendance and punctuality with the ability to be on call as need for maintenance issues.
Ability to lift a minimum of 65 lbs. on a continual basis for 12-hour shift
Ability to climb onto machinery elevated off the ground; railcars, silos. Utilize ladders, stairs, step stools and other equipment necessary while following all applicable safety rules and guidelines.
Understanding and ability to communicate using the English language in both written and spoken form or willingness to take ESL classes.
Basic mathematic skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to use hands including fingers to hold, touch, see, feel, grip, squeeze, push, pull
Ability to perform pushing, pulling, forward exertion on a regular basis
Ability to have overhead extension with arms on a regular basis
Ability to use enhanced levels of manual dexterity with arms and hands to operate industrial power tools occasionally.
Ability to stand and walk continuously on concrete floor for 12-hour shifts
Ability stand, crouch, stoop, bend and squat frequently
Ability to kneel occasionally
Ability to climb stairs and ladders occasionally
Ability to work on elevated platforms
Ability to climb on uneven surfaces occasionally.
Ability to must regularly lift and or move up to 45-55 lbs
Ability to occasionally lift and or move up to 65lbs
Ability to understand and communicate verbally, in person and over paging system
Ability to meet requirements of and utilize all PPE when required
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous experience in a plastics manufacturing environment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
