Job Summary/Objective

The Line Maintenance Mechanic

  • BET is a technical role which supports process and technology in Brewing Operations through an intimate working knowledge of brewery systems and a collaborative work effort with the multi-disciplinary teams to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives by performing the following duties.

Essential Functions

  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain brewing equipment.

  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems during production and scheduled maintenance days.

  • Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities when necessary.

  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines, hydraulic systems, and electrical equipment.

  • Evaluate problems and generate options to find actionable practical solutions.

  • Support brewing operations by coaching/mentoring, developing SOP's, establishing quick-fix routines for the breakdown process and carrying out work activities as planned during maintenance day windows.

  • Provide technical support to the manufacturing techs, plant engineering and contractors for baseline and capital projects.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of preventive maintenance routines, making revisions and improvements to increase effectiveness

  • Understands the principles of product quality and balanced line flow and is proactive in verifying that repair work and modification support achieve these goals.

  • Must read and work from blueprints when necessary.

  • Ability to use basic laboratory instrumentation.

  • Ability to become proficient in Delta V Batch, Continuous Control, and Proleit Brewmaxx.

  • Ability to use Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor and correct processes.

  • Partners with Process Leader and Training Specialist to implement training plans.

  • Onboards new team members according to the standard onboarding process.

  • Responsible for communicating and coordinating activities with operations, quality, asset care, and other specialists as required.

  • Responsible for and dedicated to personal and team safety in relation to completion of tasks and duties.

  • Responsible for and dedicated to quality in relation to completion of tasks and duties.

  • Responsible for assisting in the implementation and workings of WCSC 2.0 while performing work.

  • Partners with teams and safety council members to identify and highlight unsafe work practices and escalate/correct with a sense of urgency.

  • Performs housekeeping as required to maintain a safe and clean work place.

Education and experience

  • High school education or equivalent required

  • Associates Degree in Computer Science, Manufacturing Automation Technology, or Equivalent Technical Degree/Certification

  • Manufacturing experience in controls automation

  • Experience in Brewing environment

Skills and knowledge

  • High level of mechanical aptitude/ability

  • Prior knowledge of manufacturing equipment

  • Manufacturing Networks (Ethernet, DeviceNet, ControlNet, FieldBus) -troubleshooting, and support.

  • Process Control/ Instrument Configuration and support including systems Intgration using OPC Interfaces

  • Wireless and Wireless Devices - configuration and support

  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Safe Quality Food Procedures, and Safety

  • Knowledge of Rockwell and/or Emerson Automation platforms preferred

  • Microsoft Development Tools

  • Visual Basic, .NET, Excel, SQL preferred

Other requirements

  • 3+ years of electrical and industrial maintenance experience

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and make decisions in a team based setting.

  • Ability to work full-time, all shifts, all schedules, and all days of the week to include weekends and holidays.

  • Ability to be called in for emergency coverage and work overtime as necessary.
