Position Summary: A Limited X-ray/CRT/Medical Assistant is an employee who performs radiological duties in compliance with x-ray department and legal requirements.

Help patients feel comfortable during entire process. Perform medical assisting and administrative/clerical duties that assist in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management under the direction of a physician.

Minimum Requirements / Work Experience: 3 years current experience as a Medical Assistant/Ltd X-ray Tech or CRT. Good communication skills.

Must be able to speak, read and write in the English language. Experience with electronic medical records is a plus.

Education / Licensure / Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Completion of a course in limited-scope/basic/LMRT/NCT radiological course or completion of CRT radiological course. Completion of Certified Medical Assistant Program. Limited/Basic/NCT/LMRT permit in Radiology or CRT permit in Radiology.

Certification obtained from an accredited Medical Assisting Program. Current BCLS certification.

VIEW JOBS 4/11/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-10T00:00 Job Summary:   * The Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) collects, receives, processes and distributes laboratory specimens. * The CPT performs patient phlebotomy at different locations. * The CPT communicates tests results inter- and intra department as needed. * The CPT maintains equipment and supply inventory. * The CPT maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures. * This knowledge includes the use of specialized equipment, patient identification and specimen labeling requirements, lab safety and computer functions related to order and receipt of specimens. * The CPT projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct. * The CPT supports the Laboratory mission. * The CPT participates in the continuous quality improvement process. * The CPT maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures. * This knowledge may include the use of specialized instrumentation, Quality Control requirements, and preventive maintenance.   Job Specific Essential Funcation:   Technical Duties: * Demonstrates thorough understanding of various phlebotomy techniques. * Maintains aseptic techniques when collecting specimens. * Uses appropriate technique when drawing blood. * Labels specimen immediately after completion of the procedure. * Disposes used needles and supplies in suitable containers. * Performs quick registration in Hospital Information System. * Demonstrates an understanding of laboratory tests, instruments and supplies. Transports labels, records, distributes, preserves, stores or disposes specimens appropriately. * Prepares solutions/reagents as needed. * Assists in the preparation of specimens for testing and/or shipping. * Operates selected laboratory equipment under supervision.  * Cleans and/ or sterilizes instrument, working areas, supplies according to hospital policies. * Maintains and orders supplies to keep materials on hand at all times. * Checks package integrity and expiration dates for sterile supplies; * Disposes contaminated material in accordance with hospital policy. * Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment. * Assists in maintaining laboratory records, including but not limited to the documentation of ordering, performing and reporting of laboratory tests. * May assist in the training of less experienced phlebotomists as assigned.  * Receives training in more complex blood drawing techniques as assigned.   Quality Control: * Actively participates in all department quality control measures. * Takes appropriate action when corrections are indicated. * Identifies patient samples by strict adherence to established procedures; labels samples accurately and completely.   Cooperation: * Develops and maintains a professional working relationship with the entire care team as well as patients and their families. * Communicates with courtesy, accuracy, and reverence for confidentiality.   Processes samples for Reference lab pick up including: * Completing requisitions (paper/electronic) storing, proper labeling and retrieving samples for send out to Referral Labs * Monitors error log and daily log of reference specimens *  Adding on new or missed tests including wild card/mwilds * Arranging Specimen pickup, including STAT, when needed * Kit Preparation * Test Cancellation * Pending Log Review * Printing Batch sheet * Communicating with Reference lab Clients, Management, Medical Director and Internal Departments regarding test orders, specimen requirements, shared samples, methodology changes, reference interval changes, etc * Provides general problem resolution and appropriate follow-up to clients and vendors as necessary * Other Duties as Assigned   Education and Training: * Maintains competence and actively participates in continuing education programs. * Performs other duties as assigned.   Education, Training and Experience Required: Required: * Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPTI) including Float: * High school graduate or equivalence. * Must meet and maintain current State of California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPTI) certification. * 1 year of clinical healthcare experience or recent training through an approved CPT program Preferred: Previous experience with billing and registration preferred Customer/Client Service experience   Skills or Other Qualifications:   Required: * Knowledge and skills necessary to provide age specific care.   License and Certifications:   Required: * A valid current Certified Phlebotomy Technician I or II by the State of California * Appropriate customer service and interpersonal skills.   Position Reports to: Laboratory Support Services Supervisor or Manager Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian Irvine CA
