Location

Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Department Information

The Department of Technical Communication and Interactive Design offers the Bachelor of Science in Interactive Design (IAD). Housed in the Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the IAD program addresses the need for emerging competencies in user interface design and user experience design. Using an interdisciplinary, hands-on approach, the IAD degree develops the technical, theoretical, and creative skills needed to meet the demands of new, digitally-centered careers.

With more than 400 full-time faculty and 8,500 degree-seeking students, the Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences prepares the next generation of leaders in a wide array of fields to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century and become contributing citizens in a global society. The home of three Schools and eight Departments, the College offers more than 80 graduate and undergraduate programs of study in both traditional and interdisciplinary fields. Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, full-time, non-tenure track Limited Term Instructor of Technical Communication or Limited Term Assistant Professor of Technical Communication faculty position in the Department of Technical Communication and Interactive Design (TCID) with a preferred start date of August 2024. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities

  • Teach classes such as Technical Writing, Productivity Tools and Technologies, Intro to Digital Media and Culture, and Information Design I.

  • The teaching load is 5 (Fall) and 5 (Spring).

  • Faculty will primarily teach courses in the face-to-face modality. Some sections of TCOM 2010 may be taught hybrid.

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications

For Limited Term Instructor:

  • A minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, earned by August 1, 2024, in Technical Communication or a related field.

For Limited Term Assistant Professor:

  • A Terminal degree (PhD) or the foreign equivalent, earned by August 1, 2024, in Technical Communication or a related field.

AND

  • Experience in teaching face-to-face courses in a higher-education setting.

  • Previous teaching experience at the undergraduate level.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Subject-matter knowledge in technical communication genres and information design.

  • Experience using learning management systems.

  • Strong proficiency with both the Adobe Suite and the MS Office suite.
