KIRK RD - Operate offline and auxiliary binding/finishing/packaging equipment. Set up and adjusts machine and equipment for production runs.

Clean, lubricate and maintain machine to ensure its optimum operation. May troubleshoot issues and submit requests for maintenance as needed. May coordinate the assignment of crewmembers and may provide training for new team members.

Requires familiarity with routine operating procedures of equipment which can be set up and operated following a few step by step instructions and the skill to operate the equipment. Requires skill to perform minor clerical tasks incidental to the operation of the equipment (e.g., maintain machine operating and maintenance records, write new identification labels for computer tapes, etc.), and skill to perform routine maintenance such as cleaning and lubricating the equipment. Ability to identify if improper machine operation and make basic adjustments.

Overtime is required at times to meet production needs.

Position available on 1st and 2nd shift.

Previous experience working on MBO folders, Heidelberg flat knife, Challenge drills, GBC spiral binders, C.P Bourg and Horizon Perfect binders, MBO collators, Shrink wrapping equipment is preferred

Assists with feeding paper, moving product, machine maintenance and all other bindery functions as required. Sets up Cutters and Folders for production, waste and quality according to customer specifications. Meets and maintains company standards regarding safety, quality, waste, errors and productivity. Accesses equipment status and identifies and solves equipment related problems. Performs routine preventive maintenance. Performs requisite quality checks following specific standard operating procedures to ensure quality products. Properly labels product on pallets/skids. Maintains a clean and safe work environment to meet standards of "tour-ready" facility by assuring that the bindery department and equipment is kept clean and maintained. Communicates to the Supervisor all accidents, down time and exceptions. Other Position Responsibilities: 1) Reads instructions from job jacket and sets up or directs set-up of cutting and folding based on instructions. 2) Perform make-ready: retrieve loads, set up cutters and folders according to instructions, adjust feeder, cutting unit, stripping unit and delivery. 3) Makes final pre-run inspection of job and confers with supervisor for approval. Responsible for quality of material. 4) Loads and runs cutters and folders, continually checking quality. Operates all equipment in accordance with job orders. 5) Responsible for the training, as needed. 6) Performs preventative maintenance on bindery equipment such as: lubrication, replacement of small parts, and cleaning, and minor adjustments to other moving parts. 7) Maintains and reads Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Sees to proper handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals. 8) Adheres to SOPs set forth in ISO training. 9) Operates or assists other Operators if needed and when workload permits. 10) Assists in cleaning up and keeping immediate work area neat and orderly. 11) Responsible for record keeping and accurate reporting in all production of all materials. 12) Performs other tasks as requested. 13) Strives for constant improvement. 14) Responsible for meeting and exceeding schedule targets. 15) Participate voluntarily in all safety, quality, waste and productivity processes. 16) Maintaining acceptable levels of attendance and punctuality. 17) Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor THIS POSITION IS FOR 2ND SHIFT Required Skills OTJ-MAN Ability to independently set up and operate the cutters and folders or successfully complete in-house training (determined by complete independent operation). The ability to read and understand written instructions including those dealing with dimensions and quantity, and ability to apply written instructions to machine set-up is required. Good math skills and knowledge of basic computer operations. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE Vocational/Technical degree and or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment. Operating the cutters and folders and ensuring quality product requires the adherence to specific standard operating procedures and policies. Knowledge of all procedures required to safely operate a cutting and folding machine and associated bindery equipment. Effective communication with managers, supervisor's, co-workers and occasionally customers is required with regard to product requirements status and problems Must be able to ascertain, through analysis and diagnosis, why product is not conforming to specifications. Often requires resourcefulness when addressing non-standard equipment problems. Decide whether product meets acceptable quality levels and whether machine is operating in the most productive mode Required Experience Vocational/Technical degree and or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment.
