KABB-TV/WOAI-TV has a great opportunity for you! We are looking for interns for our Lifestyle department for the 2020 Spring semester to work on our lifestyle shows, Daytime with Kimberly & Esteban & San Antonio Living. Qualified candidates should also be planning and preparing for a job in broadcast news/entertainment. This opportunity will give the student gain hands on experience in the world of Lifestyle, and expand their knowledge. We are looking for highly motivated, dedicated students who are looking to get the most out of their internship experience! The ideal candidates will be creative self-starters who will work well with others and thrive in a fast paced environment. This is an UNPAID internship.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily guest check-in for live shows

  • Research trending/topical stories

  • Web Writing/Editing video

  • Assist in social media posts

Requirements:

  • Must be attending an accredited college or university as a junior or senior and studying mass communications, journalism, or related major

  • Each intern is required to work 10-20 hours a week

  • Must be 18 years of age

  • Must receive academic credit for the internship experience

  • Must be registered for college at his or her institution during the quarter or semester in which the internship is performed

  • Must have reliable transportation

  • Must provide three references that include name, phone number and email address

Performs internship duties in accordance with benchmarked professional positions. Level of duties performed depends on type of program and degree program the student is enrolled in. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment. Exercises no supervision. This position is an "unclassified" position and has no disciplinary appeal rights to the Municipal Civil Service Commission. This position is likewise subject to at-will employment status and can be terminated at any time for any reason. If you would like to request an internship with the City, complete a General Internship application. An application must be submitted for each semester during which you are interested in interning. As part of this application, you can request either a paid or unpaid internship and also indicate the department(s) you are interested in working with. Eligible applications will be forwarded to the requested hiring department(s) for consideration. If a department is able to host an intern, a hiring manager from the department will schedule interviews with selected applicants. Essential Job Functions * Learns about area of career interest by observing and assisting professionals in the assigned department where work will be performed. * May assist in the coordination, administration and/or monitoring of specific programs. * May assist with collecting and organizing data for research. * May assist with performing analysis and prepare data for reports. * May suggest solutions to existing problems and discuss recommendations with administrative personnel. * Assists with special projects as assigned. Job Requirements Student Intern I: * Graduation from high school or a General Education Development (GED) Certificate. * Must be enrolled in a U.S. Department of Education accredited Associate's Degree program, vocational or technical school, with the first year of the program completed. Student Intern II: * Graduation from high school or a General Education Development (GED) Certificate. * Must be enrolled in U.S. Department of Education accredited undergraduate degree program. Student Intern III: * Graduation from high school or a General Education Development (GED) Certificate. * Must be enrolled in a U.S. Department of Education accredited graduate or post graduate degree program.
