Summary
Individuals assigned to this position are responsible for supervising the patrons in the natatorium. The position is within the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department and works under the supervisory direction of the Aquatics Supervisor and Assistant Aquatics Supervisors.
Essential Functions
Includes but is not limited to such essential functions as listed below: • Abide by and enforce policies and procedures of the City of Lynnwood, Recreation Division and the Aquatics Program to ensure the safe operation of the pool and all aquatic activities. • Monitor the patrons and the activities, identify potential safety concerns and take action to prevent accidents or injuries. • Respond appropriately to emergencies and provide first aid, if needed. • Report any accidents or incidents to Aquatics Supervisory staff immediately, notify 911, and complete accident reports, as directed. • Participate in monthly in-service training sessions. • Use and store equipment appropriately, assist with pool set up and general cleaning of equipment and natatorium. • Respond to questions or situations in person.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be at least 15 years old and possess current certification in lifeguard training (American Red Cross), CPR:FPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer) or equivalent. Complete Blood Borne Pathogen and AED training. Must be able to pass the City of Lynnwood lifeguard skills checklist on a quarterly basis.
