POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for prevention of injuries and drowning by enforcing pool rules. Trains for and carries out the Emergency Action Plan, not limited to, but including: responding to swimmer/wader water-related emergencies, responding to sudden illness, providing first aid, teaching swimming lessons, conducting water tests, cleaning the facility and equipment, and provides excellent customer service.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prevent drowning, accident and injury by enforcing pool rules and responding to emergencies
In the event of an emergency or sudden illness, follow the Emergency Action Plan
Perform rescues, CPR and AED in accordance with American Red Cross protocols and training
Attends and actively participates in weekly in-service training
Conduct regular water readings and respond according to the findings
Teach swimming lessons and test students to insure they have completed all the necessary skills before advancing them to the next level
Maintain a clean, safe work environment to include, but not limited to: pool, deck, locker/rest rooms, office space, first aid station
Provide excellent customer service
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold a current lifeguard certification in accordance with approved certifying agencies as listed in the WI Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. (ATCP) Chapter 76.
Must comply with age limits designated in ATCP Chapter 76
Must successfully complete the department's pre-employment lifeguard skills test.
COMPENSATION:
$12.00 per hour. This seasonal position is not eligible for benefits.
